Love my 91 Octane tune... absolutely changes the truck in all the best ways. I am at sea level, and always trying to get anything extra out of those 3.5 liters, I just don't know if this little piece of $40 silicone is worth it.

At 7000' I have 21% less hp. Now the engine to pulling air in easier through a smooth silicone tube (which is louder) than the OEM corrugated tube and paired with an exhaust system that is free-flowing, I do notice there is a difference in drivability and acceleration before the tune.

I went with the TRD intake. Probably don't get much for HP or MPG gains out of it. But it's a fun and simple mod and it looks kinda cool so why not?

I went with HPS intake solely because I wanted the extra noise.
I like the intake noise on manual vehicles, helps as a shift indicator.

Though I have been considering going back to a factory box with just a different intake arm.
But of course I tossed all my parts when I put the HPS intake on and the rubber bushings for the stock air box are impossible to find.

Dude! It’s because some of us think cars are cool. We like looking at stupid sh*t and listening to the dumb noises of our cars. Then we say moronic comments to each other about how sweet our rides are. We call them compliments because we’re decent human beings and don’t hate on others over things so simple. Loosen up man.

I have a snorkel in the mail, but if I were to go another route I would buy the K&N tube & drop in filter kit.

I think the TRD “air accelerator” is a load of shit but it could also be added if you wanted.

I would go this route because the tube deletes the noise reducing box by replacing the stock intake tube, and it comes with the K&N filter for pretty cheap.. if I were going to spend more money I’d go with the S&B intake because it looks sick and sounds good.

I picked Volant over other brands because the airbox has a clear lid for easy inspection. The extra opening on the Volant airbox is round so it's easy to cap off for dusty off-roading or water crossings.

After about 3 years, the Volant intake tube kept slipping off the silicone coupler on the throttle body on the trail. This was very consistent (like 3 times in an hour). My problem was eventually solved with a replacement silicone coupler that Volant sent me under warranty.

Many aftermarket intake airboxes could interfere with hood struts if you have or plan to have them.

What’s your deal? You know this is a Tacoma enthusiast forum right, where Tacoma owners enjoy sharing anything and everything about their tacos, and yes that includes after market components such as intakes, exhausts, headers, superchargers and even turbos. Why even be on TW if your contributions only serve to illuminate your need to project on the rest of us?
No need to answer by the way, those were rhetorical questions.

dumb question… that TRD accelerator replaces the stock one on the left? Because I was about to cut off the piece that sticks out so I can do this intake cover mod to get debri out of the intake ( I have no liners)
