For this I am not talking about undercarriage stuff. That’s easy. Hit it with something like fluid film and call it a day.

For my specific case I’m talking things like sliders, bumpers, bed stiffeners, fridge slides, etc. Things that you can’t fluid film.

Thankfully I no longer live in a rust belt, but even so I struggle with surface rust. I’ll usually just hit some areas with paint but of course they’ll be rusted a month later if we have rain.

My dad used to swear by zinc primer over the rust then paint.

What do you guys do? Do you take everything apart each year and paint? Any special paints? Or just mask on the truck?

My truck isn’t in bad shape but after looking at pics of new builds, I’m jealous because mine looks so old now with the rust.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
For the big heavy items like armor I hit them with the angle grinder then spray them with rustoleum textured black paint. My sliders and skids take a beating so I do this in the fall. For the smaller stuff like bed stiffeners I don’t touch.
