Season goes out in my part of Georgia on Sunday. I'm debating on one last sit on Saturday and hope for a big buck. I'm not interested in taking any more does this season.

Got my 2023 tags for the shotgun area of the watershed where my "zone of death"is located.
170 permits issued by a lottery system. 2 years in a row is pretty good.
Planning on moving in the future, and it will be hard to give up familiar turf that's about seven minutes from where I sit.

Archery permits for the watershed don't come out till June 1st.

My brother in law and I just finished doing our best to break a cow down into primal cuts. It's was alive 3.5 hours before we finish. It's a little different than doing a deer and definitely not a one man job unless it was hanging I guess, but we were on the ground in a barn. She was pregnant (calcium deficiency had her so bad she couldn't walk and the vet had done all he could but said the meat was fine) so we decided to leave the guts alone (and the tenderloins sadly) just didn't want to deal with all that. We cut the backstraps out, then the front shoulders and the hind leg (one side at a time of course) it was my dad's cousin's cow and he kept saying how much he loves ribs and we kept telling him we didn't wanna open it up lol. We did give in and I decided as long as we stayed north of that last rib, we could get them without touching the guts. I'm sure there was 150 lbs of meat that we didn't get... The neck alone was probably 20, but none of us have an industrial meat grinder so it was all but unusable to us. At any rate there is probably 300 lbs or so of steaks and roasts that we will split somewhere around 3 ways.

It’s awesome until you get one down then you’re looking at a 800-1000 lb animal on the ground miles from the truck!

@308savage @six5crèéd you like tinkering with electronics and stuff. So do I, so my first world redneck problem: Deer feeder set to certain times. I wanted a way to "Fire" aka set off the spinner any time I wanted. So i did a little research and found this....
    Screenshot_20230105_173120_DuckDuckGo.jpg

Easy to install, blue wire to positive on motor white to negative, red to positive on battery pack, black to neg on battery pack.
    20230105_151746.jpg

+post on battery was blocked but i opened it up with the solder iron, Soldered wires in place. Put everything back together...didnt work:annoyed:, theres a tiny button on the device to learn the remote..

Well took it apart, pushed the learn button, hit the on button, success! Hit on button again to shut it off. Put everything back together. Melted a hole in bottom of the lid/battery cover for the remote antenna to pass through. Put it back on feeder and tested it out. Works great!:D

Euro mount with my homemade buck boiler which you can make for about $25-30.

Mongo got killed Christmas week about a half mile up the creek by another hunter. Saw him twice this season, once at 15 yards but didn't have a shot at him.

Was a really good year in spite of not killing a monster. Saw over 400 deer from the tree which is about twice the norm for me. Saddle hunted 90% of the time this go around and will never go back to a climber.
