Those first two have a practical purpose. I'm not sure what the practical purpose of removing cruise control is, or rather if it affects anything at all. And I'm being serious. If there is a real reason, please explain it to me.

Lift kits and oversize tires have no practical purpose to me .

Just like Cruise Control and ABS have no purpose to me either .In my case I never had either that worked so why not free up nonworking clutter

It comes down to being a Personal Thing Just like Painting my Truck Hot Pink because I got the paint Free personal choice.

    1. I don’t use it
    2. Takes up engine bay space
    3. I want a compressor or to relocate my charcoal canister over there

I yanked it. It ran with a bit of a high throttle. Now it won’t start. Any help?

#3 is what I was looking for when I asked. That makes sense.

Well, if you aren't doing any hardcore off roading then it wouldn't matter to you. Same reason I don't have any lift or larger tires.

Up until the post OP just posted, I didn't understand what the purpose in removing it would be if you could just not use it.

I understand personal choice. That's what we all do. But that's not going to stop people from asking when they don't understand.

I finished yanking mine this weekend. I swapped to a custom steering wheel a while back so I lost the cruise controller on the wheel. I unplugged the controller under the hood where the throttle cables are run to and from. Disconnected the cables and ran the one that was originally going to cruise directly to the throttle body and chucked the cruise box in the garbage. Cut the harness plug off the wires and shrink wrapped each of the 4 wires and tucked them back into the wire loom. Looks like it was never there now. No problems so far.

Not a whole lot to see but this is my engine bay. It now only has the one cable going to the throttle body. When I removed the cruise box from the firewall and removed the plug there’s really nothing to see there now. Lol

I cut the plug off down near where it branches off of the rest of the harness and shrink wrapped each individual wire then taped them all back in the loom where it looks like it never branched off. There’s literally nothing to see there now so no point in trying to take a pic.

Thank you for this. I have the same scenario. Swapped my steering wheel out a while back and deleted all the cruise control components from interior but want to delete the actuator module to gain some space under the hood. In my case, it's for an accessory fuse box. Only difference is I have the 5FVZ 6cyl. but I don't think that matters.
Have you run into any problems since deleting yours?

Me.....I would of tried to route the cable out of the firewall first ....straight out down under the center of intake plenum....
and looped around front of engine..... back to throttle lever......

even if it meant rerouting some of the iac and throttle body coolant hoses......

IF you've got an actuator and the 'other cable' its worth about $100 on ebay....
about $75 without that intermediate cable.....

They dont make that intermediate cable anymore.......cant even get it direct from japan anymore....

The column on/off set lever .....fetch about $60.......

I’ve removed mine for completely from a 5VZ, no ill effects. Just disconnect the electrical connection and remove the throttle cable from the throttle body, done.

I wanted it reinstalled so had to relocate the cruise control module by building a custom mount after I added a battery on the passenger side by the firewall.

I’m not sure if it matters but my truck is a 99 so predates the electrical throttle cable I understand come on 01-04 Tacomas.
