Initially thought it was the bulb but after replacing I got the same issue: Passenger side turn signal working fine but the DTRL feature didn't.

When I jiggle the assembly pictured the running light goes back on and then off if I move it a certain way. Not sure what this is supposed to look like or what I can do to (clean?)/repair...

ARE cap, wade inchannel vent visors, weathertec floor mats, ranch hand grill guard, tuffy security boxes in bed, lockable tailgate handle. Still have stuff that needs to be installed and still have stuff ordered lol.
wire tap is not making good connection it sounds like
take it off and look at wire to see if corroded or not if not than make sure you put new wire tap on and see if it works

Electrical is not my thing. Wire tap appears to be the piece squeezing the wire in the blue clip... What's the first step, crimping it down more with some pliers?

if that dont work take off the wire tap and look at the wire and see if its getting through the isolation sometimes i use my nail to scrap away some of the isolation so i see some of the wire and reinstall the wire tap

    Unfortunately, you’ve learned a lesson.
We all learn this lesson, even me.
Those style connectors are prone to fail and/or make a poor connection.

If you do use them, you want the metal “V” to slice through the wire sheathing and wedge the wire in between.
    Something like the picture below.

I try to avoid using those style taps.
