Looking at new 2023 TRDORs, this Toyoguard option is on sticker when arrives at dealer. Does anyone know what they actually do to the factory applied paint? Years ago I purchased VW Jetta, GLI from Germany. The dealer had similar charge. The day I arrived to pick up car, the salesman told me they were finishing up applying “paint protector” to my Black Jetta. The teenager with the buffing wheel was completely through the black paint and gray primer showing on the trunk deck lid. I had waited a month for car and obviously declined the car. I don’t want anyone modifying the factory applied paint or interior. IMO it’s arrogant and fraudulent to think the vehicles need to be improved? Is this Toyota’s idea or a Regional distributorship method of ripping off customers? More importantly, do these modifications invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty? Is it a film, spray, or buffing wheel applied product? Thanks in advance.

    Oh look, another mod....
Here's what Toyota's site says about Toyoguard Platinum:

    • With Toyoguard Platinum, in addition to the ToyotaCare® scheduled maintenance, you will receive 4 tire rotations. This is available for years 3-4 our 45,000 miles, whichever first occurs. This is in addition to the ToyotaCare® schedule maintenance you will receive.

    • Oil changes are so important for your vehicle. In addition to ToyotaCare® schedule maintenance, you will receive 2 synthetic oil changes, including changing the oil filter.

    • Need roadside assistance? It will be available to you 24 hours a day and includes jump starts, tire service, fuel delivery, lockouts, and limited winching and towing. This is available for up to 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever first occurs.

    • If you have a warrantable concern requiring a part that needs to be ordered, you are protected with Toyoguard Platinum. That's because you will have rental car coverage toward a one day rental, if rental assistance is not provided by Toyota. This option is available for up to five occurrences and is available for 5 years or up to 60,000 miles, whichever first occurs.

    • With Toyoguard Platinum, your vehicle will receive protective coatings. The Exterior Paint Sealant will help to protect your car, truck, or SUV against harsh weather or salt air. In addition, the Interior Protector will help prevent stains from absorbing in your vehicle's carpets or fabric seats.

It's something that is now added to almost every single Toyota model, regardless if you want it or not. Negotiate with the dealer/salesman to have the price removed from your invoice.
