I would go to the bottom of the frame without stopping. I try not to go deeper.

I drove a company vehicle through a flooded road the other day... charge light and check engine light came on, still drove fine. No water in the interior. I guess the Caravan doesn't like 2 feet of water!!! :anonymous: After it dried out, everything was fine.

I forded this bad boy the other day. Took me all afternoon to re-detail my truck.

I've been in to the top of the wheels a number of times but only on known roads and where the water is standing, not moving.

I fucking hate doing it though. If you do... You need to commit. If it's a manual pick your gear first before entering and keep the speed steady.

The risk to reward ratio is low.

East Bay... Yep. I am clearly asking dumb questions first then acting out on it later.

I don’t like going passed the lugs.
Is 2nd Gen guys have a hard enough time keeping the actuators dry. Sinking them in the water doesn’t help.

Are you on deceptively large 35s? How did you make it without a snorkel?

Is it that bad in the east bay? I thought the costal areas like Pacific got the worst of it.

I'm asking because I'm picking up a truck in Hayward tomorrow and driving back to LA either the same night or Sunday.

    The top is ok.
If you have a locker, don’t go much above that. The actuator is just above the the center line of the axle.

Submerging the vehicle into water is an unnecessary risk so i usually just go fast enough to hydroplane across said body of water.

That's not a water depth problem, it's a traction problem.

    Buy a Land Cruiser

You guys getting stuck in muddy water is driver error not water depth issues. These guys are on rock bed or asphalt. Test your water crossing base BEFORE you go in it. I crossed a water crossing fender deep no snorkel in my Land Cruiser.
