Based on my (very limited) knowledge, a sheathed blade will require me to wear a belt?? Confirm? Deny? I need the pocket clip... I dont wear a belt...

I would say a Kershaw knife. They will send parts for repair and have good customer service, but I would also consider a mora knife. It’s fixed, but cheap, sharp and works with gloves.

This is the knife that I lost to fire. (except the blade was not black)

EDIT, no, it was THIS knife! https://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Delica-4-FRN--5082

Do (any of) you feel this meets the needs listed? (I would love to have the same knife again, but want to get what will get the job done that I need it for.)

I have a Delica but without the serrations. Sometimes, people feel the serrations are a better choice for cutting or sawing through thing like cord, etc. It's a great knife. I also have a Para 3 which I like--it's a bit bigger but still very capable. The Spyderco knives tend to stay sharp and I like that.

The links are to DLT Trading. I've purchased from them for many years now. Great customer service.

Benchmade 940.. best carry knife ever made. Metal body, but if you're carrying it in your pocket then it shouldn't get cold. I had one and absolutely loved it, but I showed my dad and he loved it too so I gave it to him.. I'll get another someday for sure.

I think the Delica would work well for the role you described (mostly cutting twine). What other tasks would you need it for around the barn? That seems like it could be some harder use that might lead you to a preferring stronger knife? I don't know because I'm not around barns.

The one thing, I would personally choose differently is a knife that has a liner lock instead of a back lock. I just prefer the ease of closing with one hand that this gives you.

Something like this is easier to close one handed. Spyderco Tenacious Knife - Carbon Fiber/G-10 & Satin Blade | Blade HQ

I just got out to my shop and realized that this guy here would be a great option for you IMO.

Benchmade mini Osborne. All the greatness of the classic Osborne 940 but in a smaller package. A great blade steel in S30V. Light weight. Easy one hand open and close with the axis lock.

You can get a pocket sheath/slip with a clip. There are plenty of great folders with one handed opening/closing and good locks. They will never be as strong as a full tang fixed blade. I will always prefer a fixed blade for hard use.

if you can replace the one you lost that you loved so much, I would say do it. It will feel familiar and should work well for what you need.

I want to thank EVERY one of you for your suggestions! I clicked every link, googled every suggestion. I waffled over and over all night and this morning. But... Im giving 5000 internet points to @Agem_89  for the win! The photo you just posted... I went all girl :humble: and had to find that aqua Leatherman! That's MY color! From my fountain pens to my Glock to my coffee mug. I found a great video from Leatherman that shows all the tools and I think it's a perfect fit! Yea, more than just a knife, but like some of you pointed out, I may have cause for more than just a blade...

Since my birthday is rapidly approaching, its now been ordered :spending:and DH won't have to fret over what to get me :dancingbacon:

video from Leatherman in case anyone was wondering

    wahoo! :goingcrazy:

Glad I could help. I can’t go a day without a multitool on my side! I think you’ll find yourself reaching for it constantly.

If you want a nice kydex sheath check out clip and carry. I don’t use their leatherman sheath but have on for my mini cobras. Very nice products.

    enjoy!
