    Hi Folks-

My son and I are working on wiring some ditch lights on our ‘03. We have a loose connector hanging out under the dash, which is wired into the stereo with a light green wire. We cut the wire, pulled the connector back through the fire wall, and ran a single wire through to reconnect. No juice to the stereo or the cigarette lighter.

I was guessing that this was an unused plow control system (truck has plow and tow package, we don’t have a plow mounted). I was guessing that the only thing that would come from a stereo through an unused plow control would be a ground. At least one of those assumptions is clearly incorrect.

    Any guesses? Suggestions?

    TIA-

    Ian

Only other thing that would be in that area would be some 4x4 control.....
.....and thats way too many wires for that......

definitely a rouge cable.....long shot, could be an after market alarm.....

I'd pop out the stereo and start checking voltages on pins of the connector that feeds it. You should have a ground, an always hot +12V and an ignition switched +12V at a minimum. Depending on how they did the stereo, any of those could be related to your plow connector.

Well, there is a remote starter wired into this thing that must be after market, and only seems to fire things up when I don’t expect it. So maybe there was more aftermarket stuff that was wired in, and now we are “off the map”. Yikes. Thanks for the guidance!

I told my son that it might be aftermarket, and he responded that perhaps that is where the flux capacitor goes. LOL.

That part of engine bay changed when they moved the charcoal cannister back to the tank.....ugh...
