Hey y’all I’m trying to join the Tacoma club but I am specifically looking for a trd off-road access cab and preferably lunar rock color. So far in my search I’ve found one at bigtwotoyota in Arizona and one at teton Toyota in Idaho but after contacting both dealerships say they won’t sell out of state. I live Utah. Any tips? Should I just order one from a dealer in Utah? How long will that take and also from what I’ve seen they’re still charging markups here.

    Teton said
“As you may be aware, the auto industry is experiencing a shortage of vehicles of all brands & Toyota has as well. Due to this shortage our dealership has made the decision to not sell new vehicles outside of our local market. Thank you for your interest in Toyota, and we wish you the best on finding the new Toyota you desire.”
    And Bigtwo said
“Store policy prevents me from selling new vehicles to out of state guests unless they are registering the vehicle at a residence here in Arizona. Is there a residence you can register the vehicle at in this state? If not, I can sell used vehicles to out of state guests. We have one used in stock that may work for you. See below.”

    Intersting...

I live in Delaware and bought my truck in Maryland. The dealership is roughly 45 miles from my location.

After I picked my inbound Sport online, I put a deposit down.

Of course they held/sold me my truck...I showed them my DL and proof of residence.

Sounds like an individual decision (I would imagine they'd want to make a sale) by whoever told you that.

I would ask to speak with the Dealership Manager to get clarification on that decision not to sell out of state.

EDIT: If they won't sell...goto another dealership.

Yeah I don’t know why they would care too much if they sold to somehow one who lives there or not. I guess because I wouldn’t be going back to that dealer for any service.
That’s the problem there aren’t many access cab trd off roads in Utah. One dealer quoted me like $5k over msrp and another is advertised 3k over. Thought market adjustments were dying down.

All Toyota Dealers are Independent and able to make whatever rules they want.

I can understand Having to live with pissed off locals when trucks are in short supply and you sell to a out of state resident.

When times were good you buy what you wanted the local dealer had it shipped from where it was at.Theprocess started when you handed over the deposit.

Now no one would give up a Truck in inventory .

Does anybody have a recommended dealer in Utah then? Is tony divino the best? Guess I’ll have to order what I want and wait. I’d like to not pay over msrp if possible. Only package I care about is the led headlights.

I'd recommend Mark Miller Toyota. They don't do any dealer markups or dealer ad-ons. AFAIK, Larry H Miller, Brent Brown, Toyota Bountiful and Tony Divino charge markups.

As far as I know then things are forever changing .

Nothing to stop one group of investors from owning several locations .

I am sure some type of rules not allowing owning locations within so many miles of each other.

We have at least 10 dealers or more within a 50 mile radius of where I live.
