PreRunner Conversion

Is it possible to convert a base 2wd tacoma into a prerunner with the 4wd suspension parts?

 

Meaning a 5 lug 2WD?

Yes it can be done with Major Fabrication The front suspension is completely different

looking for bolt on No.

 

You need a full frame swap to be able to do it.

 

Basically, what makes a prerunner a prerunner? I know its 2wd and has the 4wd suspension. What are all the 4wd suspension parts? I know it has the two inch blocks in the rear above the leaf springs for lift. What else are the mods? I'm wondering bc im considering buying a base 2wd model and wondering if i can put the 4wd suspension parts on it myself.

All the front crossmembers where the suspension mounts are different. Your other options to cut out the 2wd crossmembers and weld in 4wd crossmembers.

If you have a 6-lug PreRunner, you can convert it to 4WD with bolt on ease.

If you have a 5-lug 2WD, it’s not as easy and requires the aforementioned fabrication and modification.
