Should I jump on this possibly stellar deal?

This baby right here. I’m kinda on fence. I REALLY want to a buy a brand new one that will be and will have been mine and only mine. However, I just came across this, and *maybe* it’s worth considering at least?

Is $5-6k less worth all the mods and ~72k miles? I know that 72k is nothing for a ‘Yota (I drive a ‘99 4Runner), but like I said, I do really want to be the one who puts EVERY mile on. On the other hand... there are already a ton of mods I’d love to do. Can’t even imagine how much that all cost.

There are no pictures or mention of the interior or frame, which may be concerning. I see there’s a TW sticker on there — is he on here?

TLDR: brand brand new is the dream, but fully loaded Taco just popped up. Talk me out of it?

Also, used cars are used underwear. Sure you can wash them out and parade them around, but do you really want to? o_O

Buy new and get the warranty and satisfaction of knowing the vehicles true history. :boink:

Yeah. That’s very true. I think end up always being disappointed that I didn’t get to do everything.

39500, about the price for a new one, 2023 OR. Catch an allotment, and wait for it. Buy 2023, which may be the last year for the V6 in the Tacoma.

I once bought a brand new truck... It was a total piece of shit. Transmission kept failing and a bunch of other bullshit.

Brand new is not always better.

If you aren't mechanically inclined. Then get someone who is to inspect the used truck for you.

A good mechanic can go through everything in about an hour and tell you more about the truck than you wanted to know.

I say get the used one with all the extras.

But i don't really give a hoot about anything being brand new, because I'm just going to scratch it up immediately and then regret spending the full price for new.

Seems like you are more of a brand new type of dude, so just go with your instincts and make a decision before those trucks disappear

i'd say go look at it and decide. and, as mentioned, if you don't have the skills have a trusted mechanic check it out.

sounds like you really want a new one though........:yay:

He's trying to get his money back out of the mods. It's your money, but I would never buy a used truck that's that heavily modified. You don't know the quality of the installations and he's asking a premium price. Plus my guess would be he's used that stuff and that truck has been driven hard. Would be a pass for me.

Plus 75 K miles is not a lot maybe in my hands but someone else’s maybe not . At almost 40 K mods or not for me new . Beautiful truck though, and it may be very well taken care of , but still a risk .Just my.02

Bit of a stretch to call it a "stellar" deal. It's your money, you decide.

It has all the quality parts anyone would want. You could keep what you wanted and sell the rest and that truck could cost you significantly less than buying new and buying all the parts you wanted.

The gearing alone is worth 3k.

Correction: 72k miles is nothing if you’ve owned the Tacoma since new. If buying it used, 72k miles is a gamble.

    Also: Off-roading = abuse

    Pass for me.

My mods have little tiny stories behind them. Interesting people I've met when exchanging parts. Rapped knuckles and walking to Ace hardware to buy that 23 mm socket while the truck sits on jack stands. Impulse buys on many, hitting refresh and waiting for a hot product to hit the website on others.

Buying someone else's mods is like moving into a fully furnished house. It ain't my style.

...also, that price is still way damn overpriced for me personally. Why so many people have bought at that point that it benchmarked the market... The rest of you are more than welcome to buy a used, just 3k miles shy of a high-mileage vehicle for ~$43k (after TTL). Me? fuck no.

It's worth $3k if you buy them and add it. From a market value perspective you'd have to find the right buyer to make them worth anything.

The whole premise of where this makes sense is if the buyer was going to invest time and money into mods similar to the seller of the truck. For most of the guys who are saying "nope" they run stock trucks anyway so their decision is easy.

So follow my logic, If he was going to buy a new truck and add those gears thats what it would cost him. (and thats a very conservative price at that) i was quoted 4k and 1 week of no truck

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
There are advantages in buy his truck. Look at all those extras. But to put it in comparison. I sold my 2022 PRO on Saturday for 48k with 14000miles. granted i look everything off that had value. Tacos are nose diving in value right now. Lots have new units sitting without allocated buyers. The market is NOT what it was 6 months ago.
