Well, muzzleloader season ended unceremoniously yesterday in Ohio - no deer again. The only time the TC Renegade flintlock roared was when I "unloaded it" from the in-laws deck at the end of the day.

I think most hunters are avoiding the semi-residential/semi-rural areas now days due to no hunting signs everywhere, so the deer stay put and I (at least) won't trespass to find them!!

The orange band is for the benefit of the Amish guys (Fred and Jonas) who hunt the thicket next door so they have an idea where I am. Never worried until the new tree growth got extremely thick over there.

Well I'll try. He stepped out from a privet hedge edge along a creek/swamp into a foggy early morning bottom pasture. Saw size of rack and went into shoot mode. Rested Rem 700 .280 on rail on tripod rail and shot when I got a good broadside. Ran towards me about 70 yards and fell. Over by 7:15. Was fairly wet so I walked home and got the tractor. Also used my "new" deer drag I made from my old drop in liner and drove him home.

Went back in there last week one morn after the big rain which had the bottoms flooded and picked up a pair of woodies.

Annual squirrel hunt with friend, his dog and my son this past Saturday. 10 in 2 hours to dark hunt in same area.

I can't read and comprehend. You said details on the bucket, not buck. Oh well, sorry.
Get a heavy feed bucket from tractor supply. Water heater element from Lowes or such. Can't remember exact details but it was a low end wattage like 1500w and 120v. Cut a 1" hole in the lower flat side of the bucket and put element through, use gasket, lock rings and gorrilla glue to seal. Wire a plug pig tail to it. I made a wire holder for the end of the nose to keep the skull sort of level and off the element. Fill bucket and fully submerge skull. Helps if you aready removed as much meat as you can, not frozen etc. I use a couple heaping spoons of arm and hammer clothes detergent for the first boil, about an hour to hour and a half depending on outside temp. Scrape, sling off meat etc. You can also strap/tie the skull to a tree and use pressure washer on it is another option but you better wear safety glasses and a rain suit. Then follow up with another cook with fresh water and dawn dish soap to degrease. Just check things every 30 minutes or so on each cook and you can tell when enough is enough, stuff is loose and grease is gone. I put mine out back, run a long drop cord and plug unplug it quickly from the far end. After all that I let it dry a day then follow up with a mixture of salon 40 peroxide (wife gets it for me from hair place) and baby powder to make a milky gravy. Powder keeps peroxide from sheeting off quickly and leaves it smelling fresh. I do that in a plastic tote, use an old basting brush to put it on and let it sit overnight. Keep it off antlers. Then rinse, let dry and it's in the house. Just be careful with the peroxide, wear gloves and glasses. That stuff will burn you. If antler bases discolor, lighten up etc. then you can stain them back to original with a paper towel dabbing wood stain to match. Don't have to do that too often if you just pay attention while cooking. I don't wrap the antlers like in the link, just run with it.

Here's a link with more info:
https://www.ifish.net/threads/25-di...k of the,and after a couple hours it was done.

I've done quite a few for myself and some for friends.

The plastic bucket had me confused at first! I may look into making something like this.
