To start off I had seen a few threads about TRX lights but there was never anything in detail about how it was done or really much discussed about them overall but imo they look so much better than the raptor lights. I just wanted to share how I did it and put something out there about one way of going about it in case anyone else wants to give it a shot.

No fabrication needed or done except for some drilling, this was done with all off the shelf parts. Also if you haven't figured it out already this is only for TRD Sports or Pros or those that have done hood swaps for a scooped hood.

    Parts Used:
    • Baja Designs Amber Rock Lights (x3)
    • (x3) (Comes in pairs so you have to order four in total)
    • RED & BLK 18 AWG copper wire (already had this on hand and gauge can vary for you to whatever you deem appropriate)
    • Various hand tools, heat gun, heat shrink, wire terminal connectors, wire sleeving etc. ( not required and will/can vary depending on your setup/preferences)

First thing I did was paint the rock light mounts with some steel-it I already had. I scuffed the mounts a little and sprayed (3) coats. The mounts are aluminum so rust isn't an issue this is primarily so it all just blends in.

Next thing I did was prepare the lights and wiring. I soldered the 18 AWG wire directly to the rock lights and put on heat shrink and cable sleeving, this isn't required and can vary depending on how you prepare your wiring and how you want your wiring to look. I also waited to finish out the cable ends where the wire terminals will go until the very end.

I will note I am hooking these up to my switch pro rather than tapping into an ignition fuse like all of the raptor light kits out there. So your end to wiring will vary depending on your setup.

Next I removed the hood scoop from the truck and removed the top cover from it (There's already a few threads/a lot of info out there already on how to do this so I left that detail out). Then I attached the lights to the mounts and laid them out to my liking and marked it with a marker of where I needed to drill.

    IMG-0617.jpg

You may notice below the holes are not aligned perfectly, the center hole is slightly down compared to the two on the sides. This is because underneath the scoop there is two bolts/studs that are used to mount the scoop to the hood and if you drill the outer two holes down any farther you'll make contact with those which is no good so watch out for that. I could have just moved the center one up to match as there is enough adjustment within the mounts to compensate but oh well.

I ended up using 3/16 bolts with washers and nyloc nuts to secure the mounts to the scoop. I also choose to utilize just the center mounting holes but as you see the Rago mounts have numerous holes for securing various ways or using more bolts.

The only issue I ran into was after securing the lights to the scoop, the scoop would no longer sit flush into the hood as the bolts/nuts I added now protruded from the bottom and were making contact with the hood scoop mounts.

I ended up drilling out a portion of the scoop support to make clearance for the added hardware to clear. You might be able to avoid this using shorter bolts/slimmer hardware. Only the two outer bolts had contact issues, the middle had no obstructions as you can see below.

I also drilled a hole in the back on the scoop for the wiring to come through.

Next I reassembled the scoop and reinstalled onto the truck.

    And the end result.
