    Hi Folks,

I have been doing some pretty extensive reading of post here regarding the fitment of tires/wheels on stock Tacoma.

I have a 2023 DCLB TRD Sport and I just purchased a set of SCS Ray10 17x8.5 -10 offset, which according to a wheel fitment calculator should give me a 4.36 in BS. I would like to run Falken WP A/T3W 265/70-17 tires on stock suspension. (Eventually I'd like to add a 2" lift, but I'm hesitant to do that just yet due to implications that suggest this might void my factory warranty.)

From what I have read, it sounds like these tires would fit fine with no rubbing if mounted on the stock wheels, which are 17x7.5 +30 OS. Does that sound right?

However It also sounds like those who have run these tires on Ray10 wheels or similar wheels with the same offset and BS specs as the Ray10s have experienced some rubbing issues, due to the wheel width/offset. Does that sound about right?

    Questions I have are:

If they do rub with the RAY 10s sounds like there is just minor rubbing on the mudflaps. and/or maybe the front air dam (or chin strap as some of you call it)
Doesn't sound like this set up would require anything major like CMC or pinch weld flattening, maybe just some minor trimming, heat gunning.

Am I thinking correctly or have any of you had different experiences running the same set up?

If you rub it will be minor, a good wheel alignment can help. I ran my Ray 10s stock with 265s and my 285s on the Ray10s for a couple weeks before I did the CMC.

@jjsinaz I've got the same size and offset wheels with the same size tires on them arriving tomorrow. They're going on a 2022 SR5 with no lift. I've already removed the air dam but not the OEM mudflaps. I'll post here if the mudflaps are an issue as I suspect they will be. I was hoping to leave the flaps on for the winter and remove them for the summer.

@jjsinaz truck delivered mine this afternoon. Of course I couldn't not put them on. Outside edge of tire comes real close to the liner at the front of the front wheel well and the OEM mudflaps in the front hit the outside edge of the tire without even flexing the suspension at all. Even with them removed, the tire comes close to the liner at the rear and will rub when turning sharp hitting a bump. I'm going to leave them on for a few days to make sure all is well then I'll put the winter steelies back on and probably do a 2" lift in the spring. I'm not wheeling a $40K truck so if they don't rub on the street or fire roads and things like that I'll be happy.

@atc250r Looks awesome man! Well I'll probably run into the same issues. I don;t plan on doing any serious wheeling either and also will probably put on a 2" spacer lift. Enjoy!

Got em on! I have rubbing issues too though. Going to try the 2" spacer lift first, then start trimming.

Take off the front mud flaps and see where you're rubbing.

I took them off yesterday. Been driving it around. Looks like most of the rub is on rear of the fender liner on the drivers side. Also I think its rubbing on the air dam on the passenger side but that's an easy fix. Thanks for your reply Vin. I really love the look of the truck with those wheels.

Today I installed 2" top hat spacers on the coil overs and that seems to have taken care of all of the rubbing except for the air dam on the passenger side. I have the 1" tapered spacer blocks for the rear springs but haven't installed them yet. I'm on the fence about installing those. kinda like the way the truck sits the way it is now

Okay, I'm done! 2" lift, front 1" rear. Trimmed the bottom corners off the chin guard. No more rubbing! This is the look I was shooting for. Yeah baby!

So, I was even able to put the front mudflaps back on today and no rubbing.

Thought I'd share my experience since there seems to be a lot of people on here running very similar set ups. I had some pretty hard rubbing after I put the new wheels/tires on, which I attribute mainly to the -10 offset on the wheels. What has solved the rubbing issues for me was installing a 2" front spacer lift with a 1" rear spacer lift. The Torch offroad kit I used was extremely affordable and appears to be very good quality (as spacer lifts go), and was fairly easy to install (even for an old guy like me). I know a lot of you are down on spacers, and I completely understand why. If I was going to do serious 4 wheeling, I'd never recommend a spacer lift. But the most 4 wheeling my truck will ever see would be dirt/rough roads so it is a great setup for my use. Here's the Amazon link to the lift kit I purchased, if anyone may be interested.
    https://www.amazon.com/TORCH-2005-2022-Toyota-Tacoma-Differential/dp/B09SBQ5CWZ?ie=UTF8

I was able to accomplish my goal by only having to trim off the bottom corners of the air dam (chin strap). No other trimming. cutting etc was required to get the desired result of running this setup with no rubbing. Just thought I'd share this so anyone else who has the same requirements might benefit from my experience. I love the way my truck looks, drives and rides now.

You ran 285/70R17 on Ray10 17×8.5 -10 offset with a 4.30 backspace on stock. And it was drivable??

I trimmed the plastic that was rubbing and had a wheel alignment that moved the wheel forward as much as possible with the stock ucas. It did rub on hard Corning and corning while compressing but it was driveable on pavement.
A couple weeks after I had my cmc done and Icon ucas installed.

I have 5100s on all four corners with stock springs 2" in the front a 1" block in the rear. I want to put 275-70r17 wildpeaks on some Ray 10s i have 17x8.5 -10. Im really worried it wont be drivable without a CMC i dont do any crazy 4wheeling just logging roads for fishing . And driving on sites for work, i have taken the air dam off and i am okay with removing the mud flaps. Do you think it will rub going to a 275-70r17?
