Hey, I need some help diagnosing this problem.

Last winter I thought my blower motor was starting to go because it wasn't working on slow settings so I replaced it. After that didn't fix anything I realized it was the resistor I needed to change because it was still working on the highest setting. Before I got the chance to change the resistor, about a week ago none of the settings would engage the blower motor. I just changed my resistor today and still nothing.

To recap: I have changed both my resistor and my blower motor and none of the settings work. Is this a wiring problem or has anyone experienced something like this before? Thanks.

If your resistor burned up and shorted, it probably blew the fuse or relay that goes to that circuit.

Okay thanks. I checked my fuses and they seem to be fine but could it be the 12v heater relay under the hood?

Maybe reach under the dash and bang the blower motor with your hand to see if it starts up; if it does it's probably the resister, again. This is becoming a ritual with mine, especially in cold weather. I figure as long as it works, f it I'll worry about it when it craps the bed. Good luck!

It worked for one day. I replaced it. The hardest part was finding a 7/32 socket.

    i feel this..
this 7/32th brought me to new shiny dark places this morning..

my blower motor hasn't ran in years, but finally needed to change things, so replaced the resistor (old one made in 1903, asbestos insulation, wtf-over)

but still no action from the blower, this is blower number... 3?.. 2?.. i did a lot trying to avoid changing the resistor, so to be fair, I probably beat it to death trying to fix the resistor 6inches away...

but.. those nuts.. picture it's freeze yer balls off canuckstye cold, mr.buddy in the back seat, toes tickling the headliner (again, it's cold, the dickbeaters don't work when they're cold) perched upside right in the passenger seat trying to get every wrench and socket to spin these damn things...

well.. found the right socket, but my trucks still cold.. just had to weigh in on the fool nut sizes, they are adding to a shitty day..

never changed a relay out, but they're cheaper than a 4th blower motor.. god i love this truck

Hi, I had same problem only works on high speed, Im been reading about it and found someone is using the Chevrolet Colorado resistor which it is similar at the old desing resistor, since the new desing doesnot work well for me since i been replacing too often.

Does anyone use this resistor from Chevrolet?
