    Whang up a right angle jig out of some scrap, then clamp it with your pipe clamps...
    ... that'll solve the clamping problem.

    The bigger problem is in trying to glue end grain, as there won't be much mechanical strength.
    You might get away with it if the wood is very well seasoned and thoroughly sealed after finishing.
    Any movement of the grain due to changes in relative moisture content will shake the joint apart.

    Here are a few experiments I did one weekend from some odds and ends.
    They're, dunno what to call them... maybe hors doeurves boards with recess for dip? :notsure:

    Those were made a few years ago and thrown into a box in my shop.
    Like I said, they were an experiment.

    The glue joints have held, but none of them are, strictly speaking, end grain joints.
    I rather think if the joins were end grain, they wouldn't.

    BTW, the thin lines are strips of walnut, dampened some to make them flexible.
