Hi, I bought my taco brand new in 05 and it was an 06. It recently died after 15-16 years of being the best truck ever. As some know the 4.0 was prone to a cylinder 6 pinhole leak in the head gasket. It lasted until 270,000 miles before a long trip. I was wondering if newer Tacomas had the same issue? Anyone know more details about this than me?

There was an updated gasket late in 2006.
Generally, the 2007+ trucks don’t have this problem as much.

That’s not to say that 07+ trucks don’t blow gasket.
    It’s just not as common.

Neglect a cooling system long enough, and anything can happen.

270,000 miles on any vehicle is a pretty good run.

It was a good run and I am not dissatisfied per say. It was my baby, and I miss it. You can’t knock me for wanting to reach out and see if this problem continued for the next one I get. Tnshooter had a great post about them addressing the issue and that was my main curiosity. Thank you for the reply though.

Not knocking you, admiring your good fortune. If the truck was in good shape you might put another engine in it.
