Also much better departure angle and on some models wheelbase is shorter. Even short wheelbase Tacomas are too looooong for some washouts.

Your rear bumper is near identical to mine.

Though pickups have some clear disadvantages compared to short wheelbase SUVs like the jeep wrangler, you cannot make a blanket statement that you can’t get down the same trails. There are many other factors. That said, I think a jeep wrangler makes for a better dedicated trail rig.

Haha! I did fix it though. Few screws, couple zip ties and some silicone.

Jeeps also have body panels tucked in, vs the Tacoma. Much less trail damage.

Thank you but I will be getting 4WP steel rear bumper in near future. The stock bumper is no good for off-roading.

Nice. My plan is to replace it with an aftermarket bumper.

I’ve had a couple people offer to sell me a takeoff, but I feel like I’ll just destroy it like the last one. There’s nothing functionally wrong with my current one. It’s just missing some plastic bling. Everyone seems to hate the chrome anyway. It was an easy mod to do.

Yeah, I'm starting a collection of smashed bumper corners:

This will be going on in the spring. Ain't no way I'm going to keep replacing several hundred dollars worth of cheap plastic.

Have you tried the crawl control yet? I can personally attest that it works so damn well especially since I was stuck in sand on the beach while the tide was slowly coming in. Not my finest moment, but definitely my truck's!

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.

    What, no duct tape?

Yeah, I am putting some type of steel bumper on this spring or summer too. No point having a busted up plastic stock bumper, and at least the black is easy to repaint too. Mine is all scraped up and pulled back on the left side.

Funny story. My old 1986 Ford F150 4x4. It came stock with a corrugated steel rear bumper. One day I am stopped at a red light. On my rear is a nice small sports car, I think it was a Triumph TR6.

Guy tries to squeeze between my rear bumper so he can get into the left turn lane. I can't move forward as I am on the tail of the guy in front.

So professor behind me decides to go for it. What a horrible sound as his passenger side of his car scrapes by my rear bumper, and also the sound of breaking glass and plastic from this head and tail lights.

Man, what a genius. It was middle of a sunny day, zero visibility issues unless perhaps his eyeglasses were steamed up.

Jeez, my rear bumper had zero damage, just a bunch of the guys paint on it. That guy took off as soon as the light went green, I guess too embarrassed to stop...
