Will a low coolant level on a 1st gen 03 tacoma prevent it from starting when the truck is already warm? Went to run a few errands tonight. When I was done about to head home went to start my truck and it just sputtered out. Twice on the third time I gave it some gas and I fired up. On the way home engine started running hot. Got home added coolant almost a full gallon and now all seems normal.

Needless to say look like I sprung a leak

I would check to see if you have coolant in your cylinders.

An engine will start with no coolant at all. It's what happens when it does that's the problem. I'd keep an eye on coolant level every day for the next couple of weeks if this is your daily driver and go from there. Make sure your overflow bottle is filled at the appropriate level. If you continue to lose coolant and don't see visible signs of leakage I'd start with a chemical block test to see if your head gasket is failing. Also make note if it feels like it's misfiring on a cold start after sitting overnight - another tell tale sign of head gasket failure. They don't always blow obvious amounts of smoke out the tail pipe when they go. You could've warped your heads by running it hot.

A hot no-restart means two or more plugs are fouling out.....just one wont prevent a start...

    Source is either water.......or fuel......

If you dont have the white smoke it usally an injector or charcoal cannister and/or vsv valve problem...
