This is the snowball effect that made my skids such an expensive purchase!

Looks like fun! I'm not sure if I want to be anywhere near anyone who is using it, though!

We've had a few at times. @Cipher94 and @BEAR_KNIFE_FIGHT are both first responders, IIRC. But, Alex relocated, and Cipher has such a busy schedule he rarely can make it to events.

I don't carry tourniquets, but I believe I have enough stuff in the 4Runner to make one.

It's just a flesh wound.. I've had worse.

Haha! I usually have a box in the passenger door, with antibiotic ointment. It comes in handy, occasionally. :)

That's why mine is still stock. I know that if I buy even one of the items I "should have" for decent off-roading, it will require me to go all in. I could do a $1k purchase for skids, or sliders, but I know it would cost me ten times as much before I'm done, assuming anyone is ever "done" once they start down this road!

Hell, I just know that if I ever start down that road, in the end, I'll go all Wisco Pat style and end up with an awesome truck, only to end up with an awesome vintage Land Cruiser too!

hmmm, now that I think of it, Cool!

Yep, I moved to MN, but make it back to WI frequently. We have bases in WI as well as MN so I'm occasionally stationed over there as well, depending on where the wee-woo whirlybird needs us.

A little band-aid box is definitely a good thing for people to carry, as well as a bit more expanded of an "oh-shit kit" with those more expanded life safety tools. CPR/Stop the Bleed are cheap or free classes at any EMS/Fire/Hospital and well worth taking.

It definitely takes a level of discipline that I don't possess to only add the mods you really need.

We get CPR classes and basic first aid/medical training through my company. That's really a good benefit, even if I hope to never need it!

I have a basic first aid kit, but I wouldn't mind carrying something a little more suitable for being deep in the woods as often as I am.

Before we went to Tigerton I read up on all of their rules and they required that you have a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit in the truck. I bought an extinguisher and a pretty decent first aid kit and they've been in the truck ever since.

Of course there was nobody at the Tigerton park and campground to verify that we had these things. Glad to have them now though.

These items are right up there with jumper cables - should be in everyone's car just in case, imo.

It started off so innocent with looking into better tires for my Tacoma...and now, well...there are various new "investments."

I got a fire extinguisher as well before that trip. I should have had one sooner, so that trip was a good excuse to pull the trigger.

What first aid kit did you go with?

These portable jump starters are a good idea too if you do any solo trips and don't have a 2nd/spare battery. I've had good luck with this one but there's tons of options for these things.

NEXPOW 2000A Peak 18000mAh Car Jump Starter with USB Quick Charge 3.0 (Up to 7.0L Gas or 6.5L Diesel Engine), 12V Portable Battery Starter, Battery Booster with Built-in LED Light https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087LRFYDB

My love for this brand has just increased.

Courtesy of the ih8mud forums, I found out that Toyota Gazoo Racing (an OEM parts company) is launching a "Heritage Parts Program." They'll be producing OEM parts that are otherwise no longer available for the 60, 70, and 80 series land cruisers, starting with 70 series axle shafts.

I don't know of any other vehicle brands that would start remanufacturing NLA parts for 30-50 year old vehicles.

Nissan has been doing this for a while to support some of it's older GT-Rs too. Very cool stuff. Now if someone would just get Toyota to start making interior and other parts for 1st gen 4Runners and trucks, that would be really really cool!

Jumper cables? I also carry a jump pack that probably has a dead battery. Or just get it rolling and pop the clutch.... MT for the win :crapstorm:

Yep. My trip down this rabbit hole started with a simple CornFed spacer. $50. Next were tires. Of course a front bumper/winch combo. Then I learned that sliders were a must if you're really going to go off-roading. So I went off-roading, and realized I need a lift and a full set of skids, too. Molle panels for better storage and organization. I head off to Moab and find out (the hard way) that my gas tank is sorely exposed and the factory tank skid won't take much more of that abuse. RCI tank skid is in the garage, waiting for the neighbor to free up his lift. And a new rear bumper is now on order. Oh, the tunes were also upgraded.

I didn't plan to upgrade as much as I have. Just kinda took on a life of its' own.

Tim, in my case the 10x estimate is actually pretty close.

Some massaging in the wheel wells and CMC to get the 35's on. DRT Fabrication Spindle gussets, and Warfab Tie Rod Sleeves. Are all hopefully to be done before Moab at the end of March.

After that Tundra rack and pinion kit from Solo Motorsports and probably the HOWE TC Pump Steering Kit from JD fabrication. But that's down the road a little.

    Thank you!

I have a compact jump starter, and I'm starting to think about replacing it with a slightly larger one.

Having both cables and a jump pack is probably the ideal, as you can jump yourself with the jumper pack, while the cables can be used as a plan B, or to jump others more easily.
