I’m looking for some insight from anyone that is familiar with both. I have a 2000 Tacoma V6 5 speed I’ve been driving since delivered to the dealer new in 2000. I still drive it daily. I am looking at buying a 2013 FJ cruiser from an individual as a second vehicle. FJ is pretty mint with only a little over 18,000 miles on it. It has a 6 speed manual in it. To me the clutch engages a lot higher than my first gen tacoma seems almost at the point of release or close to it on the FJ. It’s doesn’t slip or clatter just engages high. Is this normal or should I be worried the clutch has been driven too much by a kid or anyone that was learning or just didn’t know how that has worn the clutch out? Thanks

The 1st gen Tacoma clutch is MUCH different than the 2nd gen Tacoma and the FJ 6-speed. Even the 5-speed 2nd gen Tacoma I don't like.

From your description, it sounds about right and normal.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
It is so very hard to compare clutch pedal release heights on 2 different vehicles.

I have a Tacoma and a 4Runner both 3.4 5 speeds the same clutch kits they feel different.
