Recommendations for headlight assembly?

    Apologies if there's a thread on this. My headlights are very hazy, but also melted on the inside from the amber light and hairline cracked. I see all the threads about polishing them, and they'd look better after that but still would have the cracks and melted/stained spots. Most of the headlight assemblies on Amazon have mixed reviews. Any recommendations, or are they all too cheap to mess with?

    This was the best candidate I found so far:

    TYC (CAPA certified) are supposed to be the best aftermarket option, from my research. They have them on Rock Auto. They aren't going to be as good as OEM though.

    I used them for my retrofit build. I have no idea how they perform as far as the halogen light bulb and the reflector go, but the housing seemed to be exactly the same as my OEMs

    I second RockAuto. Changed my girlfriends headlight, no problem. They deliver quick at a reasonable cost :)

    I replaced the ones on my 2007 a couple of months ago. I was afraid of everything I saw after market, but the local Toyota dealership wanted $700+ tax which would have been right at $750. There is a website where you can order directly through Toyota and IIRC that price was about $600.

    On a whim I called my brother-in-law who owns a local body shop. He called and had factory assemblies delivered to his shop for $500. That was about the upper limit that I was willing to spend but it worked out. If you know someone who owns a body shop or garage with a commercial account they can probably get them directly from Toyota at a better price. If they are willing to do it for you.

    On the other hand my brother bought new ones for his 1st gen Tundra from RockAuto. So far, he has been pleased and if they only last 1/2 as long he is still money ahead. And if $600-$700 was the best I could do I'd have gone aftermarket too.

    Following. I'm so on the fence about headlights. I've already done the headlight resurfacing kit and LED lights from Amazon which looked good for a few months. My OEM housings have cracks and condensation so replacing is gonna happen soon. Hard to spend 600+ on stock headlights, then more on the ultimate upgrade.

    Depo makes some very good quality ones. i had them for my last set of 05-11 headlights. switched to some cheap 12-15's for a bit but am back to oem used off ebay for like 60-70 a piece now.

    It's straightforward and easy. You don't need to pull the fender liner loose, you can get at the inner screw by going up between the inner fender liner and the bumper with a 1/4" ratchet. You can see where the screw is located, but the removal and installation of the screw was done by feel. Just be careful you don't overtighten it. I did it twice, once with aftermarket lights and then again when I returned to OEM.
