After a 3 month wait, we picked up the wife’s new 4Runner on Saturday. A 2023 TRD Off Road Premium. After driving Jeeps for 15 years, may take her awhile to get used to it. Anyway, we started to make it hers yesterday and get it modded for its maiden off road trip to Colorado this fall. Yesterday, removed the Yakima basket and put it up for sale, and installed Teton Workshop shift knobs. The lift kit is already in the garage, she needs to pick out her wheels.

I have a question. We only received one key fob because of supply chain issues. For those of you who have purchased recently, how long is the wait for the second key fob?

This is the first time I’ve heard of this. We got the wife’s 4Runner in November of last year. 22 4Runner sr5 premium 4x4 with the 3rd row (extremely difficult to get at the time), it came with everything including two key fobs. I didn’t realize this was a thing Toyota is doing now. Congratulations on the 4Runner. We have both and love them both for the benefits. They say it will be months before they mail the second fobs.

    Nice rigs by the way.

Nice! I miss my 5th gen TRDOR. Ancient, but a killer truck.

So, I ordered more parts and made an appointment with a well respected local shop. I’m going to have them throw on my lift kit, wheels and tires, alignment, ECGS bushing, 4.56 gears, and a front Eaton E locker. Off to a good start.

A couple more little things done. Added Husky floor liners and replaced the body mounted OEM Trail Rails with frame mounted OEM rock sliders. Not the stoutest out there for sure, but good enough for the more moderate wheeling we do now.

Nice looking rig! The 4Runner and Lexus GX 460 are on the top of the list for my wife’s next vehicle also.

I bought my ‘21 Tacoma in May ‘21 and didn’t get my 2nd fob till mid August of 2021. I contacted my sales guy, sales manager and the Dealership GM daily and said this was unacceptable till I got my 2nd set.

My wife bought a new ‘21 4Runner in August and had both sets at purchase. She laughed. She had both set’s before I got my 2nd fob. She thought it was hilarious!

Wife had a 2022 GX and didn’t like it. Said it made her feel like a soccer mom. She likes the 4Runner better. I did like the GX, and regret not keeping it.

That’s an interesting perspective. I think we’re leaning towards the 4Runner because of the lower price and the fact that the Lexus uses premium fuel.

Got a couple more cosmetic touches done on the 4Runner. Replaced the silver valances with black, deleted all mud flaps, and added the Ark rear mud flap delete kit. Drop it off at the shop 3 weeks from today for the meat of mods.

Finished the rest of the cosmetic mods. TRD Pro grill, grill lights, and the Lady Owned Toyota’s themed grill badge the wife ordered. She is happy, thus, I am happy.

Took it to Tread Depot in Mansfield TX last Saturday for the heavy work. Very happy with them. We picked it up yesterday. They installed the Bilstein 6112/5160 lift, 285/70r17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, Fuel Coverts, ECGS bushing, 4.56 gears, and a front Eaton e-locker.
