Loving the small details in everything you do.

But, when do you hit the real trails?

Thanks, I want to have a quality build. Have never done it before so it's slow.

As for the trails, it's only a weekend thing as I am working for Da Man during the week. We live a couple of miles from Tonto National Forrest so that's where I go on forrest roads and some trails from On-X maps. They are real, or anyways as real as I need them to be. Not much action in the past few weeks, as we are rained out. Have you seen my river crossing video (probably only wheel-deep, so no big drama)?

Got a Renogy 100Ah deep charge battery from Walmart, and trying to find a place for it. Will link it to the starter battery and alternator with a BlueSea charging relay and monitor both batteries with a Victron SmartShunt, then place a BlueSea fuse panel for the ham radio, CB, and odds and ends.

I have a question for you on the sound proofing. In post #7 , in the 3rd pic, what did you place over the Dynamat to use as a weather barrier. the material in the lower right corner of the door.

    thanks

I used Noico Red self adhesive closed cell foam. Just checked my order history on Amz and is no longer available. But something similar should hopefully be easy to find.

I have passed the ham radio technician exam and have my call sign, so will install the ham radio, powered initially from the starter battery but I intend to transfer it to the house battery once that is installed.

Any pics of the control box mounted? I need a place to mount the control box for my M8-S too

They fit well in terms of width and length. The install is flimsy because you rely on straps to attach to the headrest posts at the top, then wrap a long strap around the bottom of the back. So the whole the whole thing flaps around when loaded if the car shakes in any way. It will be easy to make a 3D printed attachment at the top, but the bottom will be much more complicated.

That said, the functionality comes from securing loose items. I will leave my fire extinguisher mounted on. Have bought 3-4 of those fake military pouches and keep small things (maps, camera, binoculars, handheld GPS, snacks etc) into them.

As for the radios, they swivel and come loose, and the location is not that great, so will remove them. Very tempted to just get rid of the CB radio altogether, and keep the ham radio only -- I use the latter every day on my commute to work and driving around.

The quality of the panels seems good. I ordered on two separate occasions from the same vendor (reorder on Amazon) and the panels are completely different.

Changed the electricals a bit. Got a Renogy 100Ah deep discharge AGM batery; didn't go for LiFePO4 because of price. Initially wanted to use a charging relay (Blue Sea Systems ACR) but replaced that with a Victron Orion TR DC-DC charger.

I have the Victron Smart Shunt mounted just below (and partially hidden behind) the Fuse box. Obviously will need to clean up the cable management.

The system works very well, charges the house battery and isolates it from the starter, using engine off detection. Can leave the ham radio on with the engine off, and will power a fridge in the future.

    Here you are:
    Warn winch control box v7.stl

I use heat set threaded inserts for most of my 3D prints; IIRC I used 94459A370 for this.
If there is a problem with the download, I also posted on Thingiverse.
    Enjoy!
