Did you expand the drop drop down box on the right? Is the box "use Z axis checked"?

I went 6 fucking months with no Z axis control. All I needed to do was check that single box! Man I was pissed!

Yeah it was chosen and I made sure to unselect KEEP DOWN or whatever that option is in Fusion 360 when doing the SETUP. I'll play with Fusion 360 on the PC after I pick up the wife.

It's hard trying to learn all this and set stuff up with constant interruptions in between with all the stuff we have to do.

Sucks not to walk to the shop to figure things out.

Working out of town things like this were common over the years.

It's the only cut I intended to do without liquid (test run).

30 amps; manual states not to cut over 35 without liquid.

Awesome. Looks like only some minor things kept it from being a good cut. Maybe a little more air pressure. Can't tell if that is 16 or 18 gauge maybe..? I usually cut 18 gauge with 32-35 amps and 55-60 psi at the torch, 90 coming into the PW. Unless newer models are different, 90 is max input on a Cut 60.

One thing I noticed to maybe confirm is you might have a little coupler slippage on the Y axis. Those little jagged marks on the side of the piece can indicate some slippage. Could also just be lack of activating "Smoothing" option in machine setup, smoothing sensitivity needs to be tweaked, or just lines in the drawing having to many points causing stepper to stutter.

I am still green as fresh cut hay (Midwestern joke :)) at this so take my advice lightly.

Congratulations on getting to this first cut stage!

Was 18 gauge and yep I had my air pressure at 55psi; I really like how PrimeWeld put recommended cut speeds for running this thing on a CNC.

I did have smoothing on, at what is it...0004 or so? But I'll absolutely check my coupler.

I did read about someone having some uneven cuts (they made a butterfly and something else) and their issue was this small mounting plate after having checking their coupler.

I have a cheap harbor freight welding table. It works ok for my uses. My main complaint is that the gold zinc coating gets a little too hot sometimes and stinks. Im considering getting a big mild steel flat bar, maybe 3/8 x 6" x 24" and welding on top of that.

Question: would it be a bad idea to do this with an aluminum flat bar?

Shouldn't be smelling anything unless you're applying so much heat in one area and starting to burn the table.

I welded a large sheet on top for a larger work surface.

Like KW^ said. A sheet of 16 gauge sheet iron is the way to go.

Aluminum really conducts heat well, it will get hot much faster than sheet iron.

Around here, 16 gauge is cheaper than 18 gauge even though it's thicker.

The thicker 16g is hot rolled vs the thinner 18 g being cold rolled.

Forgot to say I am running at 3200mm(126in)/min on 18 gauge with those other settings. Not sure if that is from the cut chart or not. Probably pretty close.

That's close to what I run when cutting 16-18g.

    I drop to 1500 when doing 1/4".

I do believe you need to experiment with your cut speeds when programming the cut.

Fortunately this is pretty easy to do the change in f360.

Going to give the Eastwood additive a try.

Ordered it yesterday so should be here in a few days.

In the meantime, I drew up a motor mount for a customer order on both Draftsight and Fusion 360.

I like how Fusion 360 has the canvas feature so you can basically 'trace' said image.

Draftsight has something similar, although I'm unsure how to leave the image from being clicked as I draw around it. I'm definitely faster on Draftsight though only cause I've used it before.

    Right click, then hit "ok"

That let's you leave the tracing. But still in sketch mode.
