Hey guys. I’m looking for some help in my instal. I am trying to eliminate my JBL amp and sub and replace it with a new JL audio amp and CDT sub. I picked up the pac APH-TY04 harness that plugs into the factory amp connectors to wire my speakers to the aftermarket amp but for some reason we can’t get the amp turn on signal from the head unit (Sony Xav-6000) can anyone help please? Thanks

Jump the remote turn on wire to the power wire on your amp, make sure the amp is actually getting power. You can do this by removing the blue remote wire from the amp, then using a paper clip or small length of wire to jump the power and remote (on the amp, not the one from the headunit)

If the amp turns on, then you might have the wrong remote wire connected. Sony likes to have amp remote and power antenna remote wires.

So if you have jumped the remote wire and its not turning on then either your ground is bad, or your power wire is not sending 12v back. Is the fuse at the fuse block good?
Are the fuses in the amp blown?

So it’s a brand new Amp out of the box. It’s grounded to the back wall. No fuses blown truck is basically still brand new. If we plug back into factory amp everything works like normal. Wondering if it has something to do with the JBL harness. Do you think the vehicles amp turn on signal runs through that instead of HU?

But the aftermarket amp should turn on if you jump the remote to power. The fact that it does not means that your amp is either roasted or your wiring is wrong (there are only 2 wires, power and ground)

Do you have a multimeter or test light? You can see if there is power even going to the amp.

Looking at your wiring, where is the bottom bundle of wires going? There should only be the purple, white, gray and green wires connected to the amp.

What do you have the turn on switch set to? its the switch to the left of all the other switches.

This is what the amp currently looks like. The white pin connectors plug straight into the factory jbl harness. However the aftermarket harness only has two and I’ve noticed that the factory jbl harness has three connectors. The missing one I believe may be what tells the factory amp to turn on. The ground (can see OP pic) is connected to a bold on the back wall. We used a wire brush to get rid of the paint. I do not have a multimeter. I would appreciate any recommendations. I won’t be able to get back to work on the truck until this weekend so we have a few days to troubleshoot.

    Sweet baby jesus!

Remove all that and try to power up the amp, if it powers up then you want to hook up only the gray, white, green, and purple wires. If it doesnt power up it because you may of shorted the amp out by connecting all the wires randomly.

Here are the pin outs for those plugs (truck side)
    white connector:
large white/black wires (2) are the system ground (vehicle chassis ground)
    purple/green = subwoofer voice coil1 + (pos)
    purple/yellow = subwoofer voice coil1 - (neg)
    purple/black = subwoofer voice coil2 + (pos)
    purple/red = subwoofer voice coil2 - (neg)
green/yellow = front left door speaker - (neg)
green = front left door speaker + (pos)
blue = front right door speaker - (neg)
gray = front right door speaker + (pos)

    black connector:
large white and large gray wires (2) are the constant +12 Volts supply to the amplifier
violet/blue = right rear door speaker - (neg)
purple/green = right rear door speaker + (pos)
white = left rear door speaker + (pos)
black = left rear door speaker - (neg)
red = left front dash speaker (tweeter) + (pos)
yellow = left front dash speaker (tweeter - (neg)
pink = right front dash speaker (tweeter) - (neg)
violet = right front dash speaker (tweeter) + (pos)

Since you have a 6 channel amp (I assume you will run a sub for 5/6) you will have to put in a cross over to power the front tweeters off the same signal going into the front door speakers.

Is the inline fuse installed in the holder in the engine bay? Need to make sure you have 12VDC going to the hard wire before worrying about speakers.

Aww crap ok I will try that when I get back out there this weekend. So with just the ground and 12v I should get power or do I need the signal wire in as well?

Like stated above, hook up your hot and ground. Then jump a small wire from the hot to the remote. You should hear a click and the amp should turn on. If all that happens, take out the jumper wire and hook up the factory harness.

Just jumper the wire to make sure its clean. Then you will need to figure out your speakers. The factory speakers do not have crossovers in them, so if you hook up the factory tweeter or rear speakers right to the amp, they may blow.

Turn on goes thru the JBL factory cables. From my notes, pin 12 on the bottom 24 pin white plug is the acc that turns on the jbl amp.

For those reading this that don't know about cable wiring:

Factory release clip on top with connector facing you. Top row far left is pin 1 and continues to the end for example pin 6. Second row starts on the left at the next number, i.e. 7.

Ok guys I’ve got some time during lunch to go test my amp to make sure it’s not bad. In order to jump it I want to hook up my ground and 12V then use a “dummy” wire plugged into the 12v as well and plug it into the remote plug? First time doing sub work so sorry for all the questions. Speakers are a lot easier.

Alright, so you need to verify that your power and ground are good. Since you dont have a multimeter you can make a simple test light out of a tail light bulb and some wire.

Put 1 wire on the outer ring of bulb and tape it down, Then attach that wire to the power wire, now touch the ground to the metal dot on the bottom of the light bulb. If it lights up your getting power to the wires, if not then you need to figure out why your not getting power.

It could be a few things:
    Bad ground
No fuse or blown fuse in power wire
Power wire connected to ground on battery

Some of these may sound like stupid things, but just check them, I have seen full time installers make these mistakes.

Once you have verified there is power at the cables its time to move onto the amp. It should have built in fuses, check them as they may be blown.
