Has anyone experienced hard steering intermittently? I turn the wheel and it turns difficult then easy several times from left to right. It also won’t return to center without help. It’s a ‘15 TRD off-road w/130k

    thanks,
    D

Are you low on PSF? That would be the first thing to check.

Check your steering intermediate shaft u-joint, it's common for them to seize up and cause that issue especially on trucks that live in states that salt the roads in the winter.

The fluid level is the first thing I checked. It’s looks good.
It is in the rust belt. But it feels almost spongy in between revolutions. I will check the steering joint.
    Thanks

Any update on this? I'm having a similar issue on the hard steering and move isn't returning to center either. I've removed the steering shaft, u joint is good, checked ball joints and they are ok. Removed tierods from steering knuckles and made sure ball joints aren't seizing. I'm questioning the power steering pump or track at this point.... Although I don't think the pump would affect returning to center. Curious as to what you found.
    Cheers
