Hey guys I’m in process of swapping my 04 dc pre runner. To 4x4 and manual I have a option of buying a pretty cheap manual 4x4 tranny but it’s from a 03 I’m curious to see if that’s something that will work or is it easier just to find a older one with manual tc. Thanks

Which engine do you have ?

    2.7 is the G-59 3.4 is the R150F

I would at least buy the Transmission and Transfer case as a matched set if the complete donor vehicle is not an option. With the rear drive shaft

Your best bet is to buy a donor truck that you can drive enough to m make sure things work correct.

I have the 3.4. But the tranny I’m looking to buy has a few extra plugs on the tc so I’m running into a wiring issue. I’m trying to figure out if I can find a matching harness and just swap it with mine

I’m guessing yours is manual 4x4 shift with a shifter where as the donor is an add system?

Is it the push button 4x4 T case or the J shift case?

Your most likely looking at the ADD plugs

When doing a swap like this for electrical work the year and model of all the vehicles involved having the Electrical Wiring Diagrams of each makes figuring this simple.

You should start with as much of the transfer case harness you can get for that transfer case.

Do you plan to change to a Manual ECM as well. How are you planning to work around the neutral safety switch?

This is why buying a complete donor vehicle makes a swap so much easier just about every thing you need is right there.

Push button. So yes it does have add. I guess my ultimate question is does anyone have a thread where they explain the wiring process or anyone selling a 03 wire harness. Because to me seems much easier to just swap the harness at this point. And also no luck on finding the j shift t case in my area

Oh I totally missed that part. Then double whammy on the donor truck. There’s just too many things to try to source.

Yes if I’m if I’m able to locate a ecu then I will be swapping it as well. But in terms of buying a parts car it’s been tough to find one I’ve been looking for a few months now and nothing that’sa decent price has come up.

why don’t you sell it and buy what you want for the same cheap price
    I doubt it’s that rare/hard to find.

    I’ve done a manual swap. It’s a PITA

Always good to post your location someone might just have what you need.

If you search all the Toyota 4x4 Forums you might get lucky!

You need someone doing the same exact swap that you same year same parts down to every last wire.

There is no easy way to do swap electrical work with all the schematics.

Just about every swap is some what different.

You can message in the for sale thread you can not post. Click on Start Conversation.

If you were close I would be glad to help in person.

    Good luck
