Scotty Kilmer just posted a video on why "he would never buy another Lexus." It is because [some of] the new Lexus models have a turbo-4 instead of the venerable and often maligned FKS V6. He mentioned concerns about complexity, long-term reliability, and smooth power. So if Toyota adopts that engine for Gen 4, as is often speculated here in TW, our V6 trucks will always be sought after.

At the same time, he seemed to praise the Ford Maverick 2.0 Eco-boost Turbo -WTF?

Right, wrong or indifferent I just can't make it all the way through any of his videos.

Turbos are great residual income for automakers. It's buyer beware time

Progress and change is always scary. If you can't handle it, might as well put your money where your mouth is and buy stock in carburetors and distributors.

Listen... Scotty Kilmer makes close to $1M a year for his youtube videos. He has over 5M subscribers. He does not care what the topic is or if he is being factual. He is simply an entertainer looking for more subscribers.
He can buy as many vehicles as he wants, junk or not. I watched several of his videos and paid attention to his words, actions and even the titles of the videos. You really want to think he is an authority on anything?
His opinion is just an opinion, just like yours. His opinion is always going to be the one that will sell interest in his channel, he does not care if it is a good one or not.

I cant believe people find him entertaining. I've only watched a few minutes of a couple of his videos and find him incredibly annoying.

Truly an acquired taste. The more you suffer through, eventually you find yourself enjoying, then needing to watch new content.

Poor Scotty just can't please everyone all the time either. But the truth hurts, so there's that.

Full disclosure here, I don’t find Scotty entertaining either, in fact he can be rather annoying at times.

But I do acknowledge that he seems to have a great deal of experience especially on TOYOTA vehicles, so I’m able to tolerate him lol!

I’m afraid TOYOTA is becoming like Ford (fix or repair daily) and like GM (government motors). But at least Ford offers a N/A 5.0l V-8.

The turbo revolution that’s taking TOYOTA by a storm, might be the end of the association to a company known for reliability and longevity. So sad.

I like Scotty and his experience, I find him both entertaining and somewhat annoying at times. I don’t always agree but often do.
I like engineering explained guy, though no engineer knows everything (he says “probably” a lot) and I find his voice a bit annoying. He also is biased and tends to love new tech without diving deep to reliability though I was pleased he discussed it in the turbo video. His bias shows about the sound of his naturally aspirated engine.

Bottom line is we will find out about the reliability of a turbo engine in a given vehicle model in 5-10 years after it’s out.
I have both engine types and time will tell.

I usually get my advice from random guys in a truck forum. :D
