    Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for sliders that can passibly double as side steps for my 5'2" wife and kids to get into the truck. I am looking in particular for something lowish profile that stays pretty close to the body but protrudes just enough to get part of a foot on as a step.

I've seen a few hybrid slider/steps but they all seem to stick out way too far for my taste. I don't want to be knocking my shins into the sliders every time I strap my kids in.

Functionally, this is for a daily driver that will rarely see rocks.

Looking for bottom end of the budget range (less than $750-ish, including powder coating).

    Thanks for any suggestions.

You may find previously owned for that price.

Maybe just some steps might suit your needs better and much less expensive and still have about $500-$600 left from your budget

    Oh look, another mod....
If you aren't going to use the sliders as intended, do not get sliders. Real sliders are very pricey. Get a set of predator steps. They will do exactly what you want and you can pick up a set for far less than $750.

I actually have Predator steps that I want to get rid of the the reason I mentioned above -- I bang my shins into the steps every time I get close to the truck. They look nice but I'm looking for something lower profile.

Check out the RCI 5° sliders with filler panel. They run 25% off sales from time to time so you would be close to your budget and work for what you are asking.

Pretty sure Toyota makes what they call a running board but is actually a full length step for less than $500.

I have the Cali raised step edition sliders. Was a requirement for my 5’3” wife, it’s a small step but usable and I can easily step over it to the ground. They look good and aren’t too far off your price range depending how you finish them. 9AFEF02D-4618-4F5F-A0F7-1A6D22A60511.jpg

It sounds like you need actual steps, many actual sliders do not make good steps, as they are tucked up high, don't reach out far, and some don't even have top plates. Anything that drops down far enough to make a useable step, will most likely get hung up fairly easily when off-roading.

The goal of sliders is to protect the rocker panels while limiting a decrease in ground clearance. This is for the most part at odds with the goal of steps. Although I use my sliders as “steps”, it’s primarily because they are in the way of normal access to the truck without getting mud on my leg. It sounds like you would be better off with steps.

My 2 cents, get someone to cut off the "step" part of your predator bars. Then you have the look you're going for, and you don't hit your shins.

Or get a taller wife and rid yourself of the kids

I have Greenlane Offroad aluminum sliders. They would fit your needs well, but run over $1k with the top plate and powder coat.

Super light though, and won't ever rust.

Do they stick out enough to prevent door dings from cars parked next to you?

I don't think you can find them any more but, slider/step and not great at either but works as both, the way to go. MBRP, they weight about 99 pounds for the Both them and they are solid.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
I have sliders with, and without step plates. I would never step on either. The 20 degree angle of a proper slider makes them very slick and odd to "step on". Sliders simply are not step boards. And you won't find new sliders for 750.00 maybe used for that.
