Well folks, this is it for me as my 2014 was totally flooded by Hurricane IAN that wiped out Fort Myers Beach. Truck is gone, house is gone, boat is gone and I moved away from ANY coastal exposure for good. I will return to Toyota Tacomas someday I hope.

The vehicle is a total loss, all electronics shorted out, engine flooded and when the storm surge hit the window controls, the windows lowered. Only 22,000 miles and it was towed away to the great CO-PART auction in Orlando to possibly someday return to service as a Technical War Charriot!

So sorry for your losses, OP. Your last sentence couldn’t be more accurate!

Maybe a dumb question, but was it not possible to get your boat and truck out of town ahead of the storm?

Hang in there, best of luck going forward… :oldglory:

    Sorry t9 hear this.
I know it was hard to loose the truck.
But a home is different. Very sorry to hear this.

I’m currently in the process of helping my mother do a total “gut and rebuild” after 2 trees fell through her house.

Insurance, contractors, paper work, estimates are definitely starting to take a toll on us.
She doesn’t know anything about home construction, and I know very little.
I’m having to trust the contractors, and go off common sense. I hate it.
    Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Losing your truck and boat is terrible, but losing your home is soul crushing I can’t even imagine how you feel.

I’ve always wondered why do most people stay home during these storms that roll through every year. Why not drive 2-4 hours away get a hotel room for the night, wait it out? Or drive to a family members house in another state? I’m just curious, not trying to be a dick either. You coastal people are tough.

I saw a dude lose a million dollar car during hurricane IAN. Hard to comprehend not putting that vehicle on a flatbed and taking it somewhere safe before the storm hits. Obviously has the resources/money to it, unless he just wanted to collect the insurance money…..
