Sucks but at least it was a wash. Same thing with me, broke even on the FZ.

Nice new shoes when are they going on? I kinda wish I went with 255/85s

    Oh man parent riding stories...

I bought my bikes with my own money typically, at least as much as a middle/high schooler could make. Had an 80's RM 80 first before I moved to a 87 KDX 200 in HS. Fast forward a year or two when I crashed real bad around when I was 16 and my Mom offered to buy the bike from me like double what it was worth as long as I promised to never buy another bike.

Fast forward to when I'm 19 and show up with my first street bike (96 Katana) in the middle of the night so when my parents woke up there was a street bike in the garage.

I told my Mom I promised you I wouldn't buy another DIRT bike. Now I own a street legal dirt bike so I guess I broke that promise now too.

My parents would never let me ride, my mom always made excuses like "you should have started when you were 5-6 years old, you're too old to learn now", etc...

I ended up moving to a different state for college and bought a Honda Nighthawk 750 and rode that around. They never knew about it and even now a decade later they don't know about it.

When I was 24 they went out of the country for a few weeks while I was living with them so I bought a CBR600 and emailed them a picture. They hated it at first but eventually were OK with me riding. I ended up crashing really badly a year later (going too fast, lowsided, broke hand and foot, etc) and thought I'd never be allowed to touch a bike again and instead my mom lent me money for a supermoto that I bought while still in a cast. :D

They still don't prefer me to ride but see the level of gear I wear now and are kind of begrudgingly accepting of it. Wife has always been supportive though so that's what counts!

I can attest that Krylon Fusion is a pain to spray on motorcycle fairings. I used it as the base layer on my DRZ fairings and it kept bubbling and produced a ton of overspray. I thought it would save time rather than going with a separate primer and base, but I was wrong. If I had to do it all over I would use something different, like Rustoleum. Once you get the base layer down, make sure you use a 2k clear coat over it. This stuff works great if you don't have access to an spray gun. https://www.amazon.com/Spray-Refinishing-Permanent-Surfaces-3680061/dp/B0043B7UQY

This will all be rattled canned. My neighbor kept saying primer, paint, and then clear. I'm basically just gonna be "shop bitch" and sand, prep, and do what he tells me

I never really rode dirt much at all. Had a friend that had dirt bikes and raced motocross for a few years. He taught me just enough to think I knew what I was doing and left me ride his old Honda 250 Elsinore around a field behind his house. My parents hated motorcycles. I was in my early 20's and still lived at home but I rented a garage not far from the house where I kept my project/drag car so when I traded a car for a bike I just kept it there and didn't tell them for quite a while. I brought the bike around a few times and after my dad passed away my mom told me to just bring it over and store it in the shed so it was there when I wanted it.

I took my test and passed my license and later took the MSF course to unlearn some bad habits. Been riding ever since and now own 3 bikes. Probably close to 300k miles by now and have ridden in 33 states.

Any Honda Navi fans here? I might go look at one that a coworker is selling on Sunday.

I really don't need it but for some reason I want it. Maybe I'll put it on a shelf or something.

I put a deposit on one three days after they were announced in North America. Got mine in in february and have about 300 miles on it. Selling it next month or the month after and getting a Grom though..

Still a huge fan. They're a very fun shits and giggles bop around town toy. Also you can fit 24 beer cans in the storage compartment

    LOL

my dad always had a bike, but my mom was always staunchly against me getting one, whether I paid for it myself or not. Once they divorced, dad always deferred to mom saying "if she okays it, then I will help you buy one". Of course that never happened.

couple years ago I decided fuck it, I'm an adult and can pay for this myself. So I went and bought a bike. Kept it a secret for the first 4 months or so, then finally rode it to work one day (i work for my mom) and began commuting on it regularly.

As you can imagine, she was pissed. gave me the silent treatment for a week...hard to deal with when she's my boss lol. Eventually she warmed up to it, and realized how quickly I could get around town for work related stuff. Then I found out about 3 months ago that she took out a huge life insurance policy on me like 2 months after finding out I owned a bike. Not sure how to feel about that but I'm glad I've proven her wrong so far lol.

Yeah it's definitely worse in rain, I'll agree to that. the extra layer of water only makes the prismatic effect worse.

ye i was lookin last night

well at least you broke even and got some goodies for the truck! you plan to buy another bike or nah?

haha im not a fan of the day of the dead stuff personally but i love the colors haha i love loud and crazy colors thats why i love my dirt helmet more then my street helmet

    looks good man!

ya my mom told me i had no business on a bike ever since i never learned when i was little i told her that was bs because millions pick up bikes for the first time and learn to ride that way it may not always be the best but many have done it... mom still hates my bike and is now trying to get me to put reflectors on it like its some peddle bike.... like the damn thing has led lights that are bright af they already ignore me some little reflectors aint gonna help...
