Here’s mine towing a Uhaul trailer as well.

 

Congratulations! Is your garage big enough to house the truck? Mine is about 2 feet too short. My former house, a 1960s split-level, had 24 or 25-foot bay. I parked my 68 Chev C-10 long-bed and my 2013 F150 SuperCrew in it. At the present home, the Taco sleeps outside like a bad dog.

 

Hi, do your sliders cover the long bed part of the box? If so could you share where you got them… Cheers.

Edit: also are your fog tints the dark smoke or light?

 

I believe it will fit, I just have a ton of stuff in the garage right now. I’ve been working on it a bit at a time. Hoping here soon, I’ll be able to get that truck parked inside.

 

For the sliders, there are many companies that make Long Bed sliders. I personally have the

MBRP 183101 Modular Rock Rail Kit (2016-UP Toyota Tacoma with 140.6" Wheel Base)

MRBP 2-piece, but they're now discontinued (although, you might try here, and the shipping might be better for you in HI because they're 2-piece). This guy ended up with Avid Offroad. GL!

Thanks for the info, I have the stock led fogs, I originally had some film over them (the same that’s on my front sensor) but as it’s a matte film and it ruined the light pattern of the fogs. Might just try some regular tint.

The stock LED fogs came in silver or blacked-out. Which version do you have? If you have the silver, then maybe consider the blacked-out with no film?

Hi all.

Does the Redarc brake controller allow the Tacoma ‘Trailer Sway Control’ to control the trailer brakes also?

Equipment used:

2020 Tacoma OR
Redarc Tow Pro Liberty

I’ve looked through literature on Toyota & Redarc websites with no solid answer.

Toyota says ‘TSC’ controls vehicle brakes and engine braking.
Redarc says if you feel sway press the button to manually engage trailerbrakes…

Redarc also says the Elite & Liberty are compatible with Dexter & Tuson SwayControl Systems. Presumably you would use one of those if your vehicle does not have sway control built in.

 

I’m curious about this too. I think it would come down to how the sway control activates the brakes. If it sends a signal that routes through the usual method, then anything that ‘looks’ like brake pedal would engage the trailer brakes. But I think it more likely that individual brakes are engaged at the point of braking and this would bypass the trailer brakes. But that’s just speculation. And going full circle, perhaps the sway control system recognizes a trailer is attached and includes that braking option in its calculations.

• Question: I have a 2020 Toyota Tacoma 3.5v6 and the Liberty brake controller, my vehicle has Trailer Sway Control built in which controls the vehicles brakes in event of sway does the brake controller see this signal and does the REDARC then control the trailer brakes in relation to the TSC, either the left or right or anything at all? Or does the inertia sensor pick up the deceleration?

Answer: The Tacoma brake lights are applied during all braking events i.e. whether manually by the operator or automated during AEB Automated Electronic Braking events. The TowPro is triggered on brake light activation and from there the TowPro, inbuilt 3Axis Accelerometer, measures the amount of braking force being applied by the vehicle and then transmits a light proportional amount of this power through to the trailer brakes for a smooth braking experience.

 

I'm just wondering your thoughts on this, since you picked it up.
I'm about to pull the trigger on one myself, and want to be CERTAIN, I'm making a solid choice.

I have a 2017 Limited since new. I've never towed... anything.. ever.. with any vehicle. Need to tow something tomorrow with my brother-in-law. He has a trailer and will drive my truck. Am I supposed to have any type of wiring adapter or anything that goes between the truck connector and the trailer lights? I don't remember if it came with anything or not.. but if it did, I need to find it!!

 

Look on the back bumper by the license plate. Hitch will be below.

I guess what I'm asking is that these two connectors are under flip-open covers on the back bumper. And the hitch is underneath the license plate. But did the truck come with any harness/adapters/wiring or anything that I should have still around somewhere that plugs in between the truck and the trailer? Or am I good to go with what's in the picture?
I just want to be sure that I didn't misplace something 6 years ago that I now need..

 

On my 2013 I did. It converted a 7 prong into 4. Gen 3 trucks have both connections on the bumper.

 

This page from the owners manual leads me to believe I should have something else too... "harness stored" ???

 

That's what @mosccat was telling you. It's the plugs stored underneath the covers. You should be good to go.
