the NAPA gold filters are made by wix. usually napa has coupons too so that's what i went with. it's the same part number as the wix version so i think it's exactly the same.

To me doesn’t matter what brand to use. The main thing that you replace the air filter as a maintenance to your vehicle. You take care of your vehicle she will take care of you. Good luck!

I use Fram. The best part about doing that is that it REALLY pisses people off who think they can tell how good an air filter is by cutting it up and counting pleats, etc. If I only had a dollar for everyone who posted that they had a friend of a cousin of a buddy at work who once used them and they caused a complete engine failure I'd be rich and retired. You've got to love holy wars!

FML mine came with a K&N drop in. (Truck is bone stock).

Usually clean it out with dawn and let it air dry lol.

Wondering if I should resort to paper filter now…

I don't have any firsthand experience with K&N in cars but I've used them on my motorcycles for years without any trouble. Regarding their use in a Toyota however, I have read reports that the oil, if applied too generously, can play havoc with the MAF sensor. This is an anecdote however, not real data. I would say that if it's working for you and hasn't caused you any problems, keep using it. Just don't buy into all the keyboard hysteria where people resort to wholesale bashing of FRAM because it's orange, not WIX, not made in 'Murica, (insert whatever other silly reason you want here).

Watch the videos above and tell me if you've EVER let your filter get that dirty and if you haven't and the flow is the same as OEM within reasonable mileage, what's the difference except the cost? It's a great advertising gimmick, but it bears no resemblance to reality. It seems to have been put together by folks who would very much like to sell you their costly filter over a less expensive alternative.

    Good luck.
