What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Overland Equipped Auxiliary Power Kit and Brite Box Fogster module installed last night. Nice to get some more parts out of my growing stuff-to-install pile and onto the truck.

 

Installed snugtop camper shell.

 

Got 33”s mounted a couple days ago but forgot to post…

 

I did my first three minor mods. I added a driver side grab handle cause I'm short as hell. Added a gas Cao holder cause I think they're cute and took off the air damn thingy cause I didn't like it. Just deciding what to do with the front end now. Do I add a winchable bumper? Do I just add a bumper tow points?

Anyways here are a couple pictures.

 

I don't understand why they don't come with a holder from factory anymore. My 1st gen has one..

Right?!?! I can't remember if my last tacoma did or not. It's been a few years since I owned it.

If they did, we wouldn't have the joy of seeing the need, finding one, buying it, installing it, and posting about it.
And since I don't have the skills to do suspension work I need simple things to do to make me happy.

I did my best at thinking about 'why' but I haven't convinced myself.

 

And see I don't like how that makes me feel lol it feels wrong to just loop the string or let it dangle lol

Got my SUMA mirrors put on. It’s crazy being able to see everything! And the anti glare for all these stooges driving with brights on is amazing.

That being said, these are not for everyone. Depth perception is gone. With the blue lens, when it rains and it’s dark you can’t see anything, especially at dusk when cars haven’t turned their lights on yet. I’m nervous about putting the tent on and losing my rear view mirror but not having a blindspot is worth every penny.

install was rough, some advice.
After the mirror cap is off, to get the mirror off, use a plastic pry tool to disengage the one mirror clip you can see. Once that is off you can easily pull mirror from each corner to get the other 3 clips off one at a time, grab as close to the center of the mirror as possible. I broke one of the mirror clips on my OE mirror by just trying to brute force it with my hands. Then tried the pry bar on mirror two and it was so much easier. I also had to pull off the SUMA mirror once to swap the blinker connectors(I put them on the wrong connections) and the pry bar method worked flawlessly.

 

But 5th gen 4runner's have the gas cap holder and a manual opening fuel door like the Tacoma.

 

I like the blue tint as well since.
Another suggestion when removing the OEM ones is to spray a shot of WD-40 or similar on the clips. This makes it easier to pry out.
