Please refer to the 3:11 mark on this installation video if you have LED headlights from the factory.

Overall, you can tap our backlight wire lead to any 12v fused source to signal the backlight to illuminate.

That's probably because you have so many options there. Some tie into the running lights like I did. Some tie them into the DRL circuit. I even wired the (red) backlight on a set of SS1's in clear (used as backup lights) into the brake light circuit on one car.

    I love the fast response!!

I do have LED headlights and that video is helpful if I was using the tap method, but I bought the 20$ plug and play adapter though so I could avoid using a tap. Do you guys have any videos showing where the plug and play harness is meant to attach? Or is my only option to tap if have factory LED headlights?

I made another post in the 3rd gen form. The plug and play harness only works with the pre 2020 halogen headlights. If you have the new 2020+ full LED with one plug in the back the harness won’t work. The description on the website is a bit misleading, I think splicing is the easiest method for now.

I feel way way better about the last half hour I spent scouring the internet and looking for the correct connector under the hood. I was going to feel real dumb if I had overlooked it

That is truly astounding! And for being "spots" I'm shocked at how nice the spread is.

If you look at the specs ss5 spot has wider spread than ss3 driving.

I can't remember what the rest of your lighting situation looks like off the top of my head now... In general, if you ONLY have A-pillar lights then the combo is the best option. That said, DD's combo pattern is less of a combo than I would like. It has the tight driving beam with a very splashy flood. Where you want the driving beam is generally straight ahead or hardly canted off to the sides whereas you'd like the flood most when you can really pitch the lights off to the sides and use as a true ditch light.

Here's what I tell people - Tell me what your current lighting situation is, what your goal is for your A-Pillar mounted light(s), and which power level of SS3 that you are going with and I will let you know which pattern to pick up! Since the pro has the larger LED chip than sport/max it has a different output profile even when the lens selection is the same.

    I have
    LED Retrofit headlights
    DD Max Fogs
DD SSC1 Pro Ditch lights (forget the pattern - you can tell me I'm sure :D)
    BD 20" Combo Bar

I'm going to be hanging the SSC1's off the side of the SSC3's. They are fine by themselves off road at night as a true ditch light, but to really be good I need to angle them out and down a little more than the typical ditch light brackets allow. Hanging off the side of the SSC3's will give me that ability. I don't really need any more forward lighting, but not opposed.

My thinking was SSC3 Pro's in Combo, angled out about 10 degrees. Combo will give me a little more forward lighting, along with a little ditch light action. The SSC1 off the side will fill in everything I need it to.

Okay so here's what I'm thinking. Since you're going to go pro power level on the SS3s I say that you do the driving pattern. The patterns for the pro power level are softer in general so you'll get more light bleed to the sides than if you went sport/max. Aim them out about 15deg (or where the "spot" portion of your light bar falls off). You can aim them a little more forward if you want as well once you get them in hand, and I'm suspecting that's just what you'll do. It'll reduce your hood splash since you won't have a flood pattern pouring light directly down onto the hood, and you'll get to leverage the angle of approach to the road to maximize down-range visibility. You'll get more light off to the sides than you think.

As for the C1s, if you're going to hang them off of the SS3s we're going to need to get you some new lenses. The C1 lenses are oblong so they cannot be rotated 90 degrees. That wide pattern that you currently have making a "--" pattern will end up as a "|" pattern which is not ideal for the intended application. We'll need to get you into some flood lenses for those guys.

This is why I buy my lights from you. :D Going to get some red rock lights for my camper shell for "nightlights" too. I'll be in touch brother.

Joined the cool kids club the other day…

Went from a SSC1 Pro in wide pattern on each side to a SS3 Pro Driving plus a SSC1 Pro Flood on each side. Not the easiest things to line up and hulk torque down if you’re OCD like me.

No night shots til I’m out of my cast unfortunately.
