I was on a four lane state highway last week, clear weather, no other traffic what so ever, and all the sudden the truck started beeping with a message in the cluster telling me to 'BRAKE BRAKE". Scared the shit out of me.
I was the only vehicle on the road, no debris present, good dry/daytime conditions and driving 55 mph. I got to the shop and did a module scan, not one code in the entire truck.
Does this sound familiar to anyone on here?

I have had it happen, figured it was do to the way sunlight hint sensor. Wiped it clean, not problem after that. Whom knows if, that was it.

Some sort of techno-glitch I guess. To quote the immortal Montgomery Scott:

Does the system have the capability of applying the brakes? That's what scares me......the truck going into a full panic stop for no reason.
Other than that I could care less about an occasional false alarm.

Mine will do it every now and then going under an overpass on a bright day. I'm guessing it was a light/dark contrast thing in my case

Yes it does but warning comes first. I have also seen the warning in the proper situation however. Never had the brakes applied.

toyota isn’t known for “ghost” braking unlike tesla

Mine will bump the brakes hard for maybe a half second when it happens. Only happened a couple times since ownership and both times at the same location. It's not as refined as wife's Subaru for sure.

First time was a bit of a surprise, but now I expect it at that location. LOL I have been under that overpass probably 100 times in the last year and it's happened twice. Both times was around 2 oclock'ish. It's not too big a deal, just a quick tap.

Mine did it- first time while on the Highway with no one around. Probably rain/dirt/salt/ icy mix on the front of the truck.

I’ve only experienced that in areas of road construction. I think the reflective tape on the barrels might have been part of the issue.

Had this happen on a weird sharp turn with a guardrail at like 45mph. I just ignored it, and it didn't override anything. I could see why it would get confused. It was an awful designed turn. I've had it go off legitimately on a car that full stopped in the middle of the highway to change lanes at 55mph; it correctly started braking a second before I did. YMMV.

I get the slowdown when on cruise and the vehicle ahead of me turns off on a ramp. I slow down. I guess it is an alignment problem

Was driving my wife's GX the other day, on our way to do a little family hike. Wifey, kids, doggy, and me. I had the cruise set for the speed limit with the stupid active cruise on. Some jackhole pulled out in front of us, probably 80 yds out. That stupid fucking GX jammed on the brakes and about sent us all through the windshield. Poor dog came over the back seats into the kids' laps. When my wife was able to dislodge her fingernails from the dash, she sounded like a goddamn red squirrel chirping at me for panicing and jamming the brakes on.

That system is bullshit! I turn it off every time I use cruise. Same with the Taco.

I agree 100%. It’s an incredibly dangerous system. I never use the adaptive cruise control but the other week I mistakenly put it on, instead of the constant speed cruise control. I was sailing down the highway and someone got too close to the line in their own lane (they weren’t even changing lanes) and my truck slammed the brakes on. Thank god no one was behind me or it could have been a fatal wreck at the speeds we were going. Scared the shit out of me.

Those adaptive cruise control systems are going to get someone killed if they haven’t already.

Wow, in maybe 150,000 miles I have never felt they were more dangerous than looking at my cell phone, eating while drinking or other activities while driving.
