I haven't seen a full service drive-by tire shop since Queens.

 

That Cutlass was my first car! Same body style and everything, just imagine it as a rust bucket with a chalky white paint job. Had the same top and everything, though.

It had a tired-ass Olds 350 that I desperately wanted to swap for a 455, but my high school kid budget never could make it happen. I still have a soft spot for that year and style, especially the hood that was the size of a queen size bed!

I got an alignment about a month ago but my front end still feels kinda wonky. I have a feeling these are kind if tricky to dial in, especially when lifted.

 

yeahhh these trucks are not the easiest to align. And old parts often allow the alignment to fall out of spec very quickly.

My truck drives straight 50 percent of the time then darts right or left randomly. From what I can tell my LCA bushings are trashed entirely and my track width makes it very prone to falling into the ruts left by semis lol

The secret to a long lasting alignment is to get it right and then allow it to rust in place.

Thanks, the truck is a labor of love. I don't do vacations really so it's my ticket to have fun when I can.

 

A lot of things do throw out alignment easily but I wouldn't say they're difficult (at least not for any of the techs that aligned my vehicles).

Just a matter of making sure things like your LCA bushings (since you mentioned them) aren't messed up. Those that wheel hard have bent their spindle which isn't exactly easy to spot just by looking at them.

Then there's running out of adjustment when going too high.

You went the right way about it by going big tires

I'm sure we'll see another 5 threads of "what lift..." or "can't get an alignment" over the weekend.

 

Even when my 04 was grandpa stock 100K highway miles most alignment places out here couldn’t align it right. Nor could they align my 03 Tundra. It was ridiculous. All the shops would twist my steering rack boots up after these expensive poor alignments, sometimes ripping them in half.

Finally found a guy in town capable and he just laughed when I asked what the deal was. My 99 was like @Wulf with destroyed bushings and all kinds of issues. So I understood why it couldn’t be aligned at first.

I made things worse when I lifted the 04 and started bringing my SPC instructions with me places in an attempt to explain what I wanted in the alignment.
