Differentials and transfer case gaskets

All, in my opinion I only believe the crush gaskets in rear differential drain/fill and front differential fill crush gasket should be replaced.

the front differential drain copper looking gasket is more of a washer since it’s pretty thick and shows no signs of deformation.

I don’t believe it needs to be replaced

the same goes for the two transfer case gaskets, they are both pretty thick and would almost see these as washers more than gaskets since they also show no signs of deformation. They are also pretty thick

just an observation what does everyone think after replacing them all twice already ??

I may only stick to just replacing the crush gaskets

 

I replaced mine. But only because I had new ones.

I’d be ok with reusing them.
I’ve reused the smaller crush ones many times.

 

If you are in a pinch and don't have a new one it won't hurt to re-use it versus nothing at all.
If you aren't in a pinch and can plan ahead to buy new ones they cost like a dollar. Silly not to do it.
Pinching pennies on something so cheap is an idiotic way to maintain a truck.

 

I spent a little over 30 bucks for a full oem set. Let me know where you find them for a dollar a piece.

If you read carefully some are almost questionable to be gaskets and more like washers since they are solid/thick as hell

bought these for years. and side by side with the ones from toyota. they were identical. 6.99 for 18 pieces. so roughly 40 cents a piece

 

Lewis Toyota of Topeka online parts store. I just ordered as recently as January 2nd so like 3 weeks ago. Here were the prices:

12157-10010 = $1.23 each

$8 90430-24003 Front Differential Drain Plug Gasket

90430-24003 = $1.55 each
90430-18008 = $1.41 each

Buy a couple at a time, add them to an order for other maintenance things like air/cabin filters, oil fiters, etc. Get the free shipping. Again, it's silly to pinch pennies on this kind of stuff when everything else costs more.

Or buy this, it's pretty hard to screw up a metal gasket so aftermarket Amazon stuff should work fine. I personally don't buy stuff at Amazon but that's me, and I don't criticize if you do. I've eaten hamburgers that cost more than this gasket kit. Again, silly to skip it.
