Hi Everyone - I have a 2020 Tacoma, but feel limited space-wise when going camping with all my gear. I wanted to ratchet strap 3 camp chairs and 3 bed mats (rolled up in their storage bags) to the top of my Lomax trifold tonneau cover using the OEM
    bed cleats as anchor points.

Specifically, I was planning to use the movable bed cleats that attach to the bed rails as hooks and run the straps from the driver side to the passenger side of the bed over the top of the cover and store items that way. Had anyone doing something similar? I am not sure if strapping from anchor points underneath the tonneau cover would create unwanted torsional tension where the tonneau cover would pop up out of the channel lock.

I know I can buy BillieBars, buy a Diamondback cover, or use a cargo hitch carrier. However, it seems like there should be a more cost effective solution for something I need less than 10 times per year.

I don't think I'd recommend it. However, the truck should have the anchor points that attach to the bedside rails that should work perfectly for that.

That's a big fat nope on that anchoring thought.

The anchor points you referred to are the bed cleats (the ones that attaches to the bed rails that run the sides of the bed) I was referring to in my OP.

I would not, most cover are foam sandwiched in between thin aluminum. I would think it would cause leaks and you don't want that foam to absorb water.
The shallow Tacoma box had me quickly looking for a bed topper.

I thought you were referring to the permanently attached anchor points in the bed, not the removable ones.
