Butterfly doors on a truck? seems a little silly to me. But then I thought it might come in handy opening your doors in a tricky spot while off road. Just curious if they swing outwards after going up, doesn't look like there is much room to get into the truck. Anyone have these and could give me more input?

You could build your custom doors anyway you desire . It would be a interesting project to engineer and build .

Remove the Doors completely when Off Roading?

I have a friend who has them on his 370z. Takes a bit of effort to lift up the door all the way.

I would have to have doors, it would be way to noisy on the hwy without them. Yes like Lambo doors. If it only pivots from 1 spot, you'd think the door wouldnt be very sturdy aswell. It's probably not worth it. Time and money would be better spent elsewhere.

I'd just as soon own a different vehicle cause I've cut the cabs of these trucks up, all the weight on the top hinge mount point is gonna crack the steel.

Stands to reason the roof would also need an up grade most likely the door pillars as well.

Till it was all done it would be a complete custom cab. Hence my Budget.

The simple answer is to smash the door on a rock so you have to climb out the window regardless of whether it opens normally or Lambo style

I'd expect the seatbelt mechanism keeping you locked in place if you were in a precarious situation.

Would make opening such a door even harder if it required a bit more effort like others stated.

The doors open outward and then lift up. The angle of the door depends on which hinge you use and how you have it set. When I did them on a Chevy LUV I had, the doors went 90* but the hinges were capable of 95*.
The people who have issues lifting the doors either don't have them set up properly or don't have hydraulic assist at all. Mine, I could lift them to full open with two fingers.
Honestly, I wouldn't suggest using them. Only reason I did was because people told me it couldn't be done on the Chevy LUV and I wanted to prove them wrong. Really the only joy I got from them was when I was stopped at a light and a guy in a Mustang was trying to show off with his vertical doors at the opposing light. So, I opened mine and made the truck shake with the v8 I had in it. He closed his door and didn't do anything else.

If trails are the concern, I'd just do Jeep style tube doors. Bonus points if they're quick disconnect

Yes because I can can get expensive I have learned over the years.

More a design and fabrication problem then a real world protect at least in my case.
