For proper gearing, and I say proper because not re gearing the axles causes increased wear on the transmission, higher chances of damage to the T-Case, and will ruin your fuel mileage on the road. It causes everything to work many times harder for every shift change, every acceleration, and just to keep your speed constant. 4.88 is the correct gear ratio for 35x12.50, 5.29's if you spend a lot of time in 4-Low or want to have that extra towing power. 4.56 is ideal for 33x12.50 or 285/70R17s and 285/75R16s.

There is a reason every person who does the new lower gears, running large tires recommends it, it changes everything about how the truck drives, and will make it last so much longer.
