So I am getting a 3 inch front and 2 inch rear lift. Do I get the 17x9 0 offset with the Nitto LT285/70R17 Trail Grappler or the 16x8 0 offset with the Nitto LT285/70R16 Trail Grappler?

Personally, I like the 17s. Just a lot more tire options. I have that set up if you would like to see.

I think 16’s look better because there’s more tire and less wheel, but that’s just personal opinion.

It is very true that you have a lot more tire options for a 17” wheel but it sounds like you already know what tire you want.

More sizes and ratings in 17's. Personally think 16s look better. Also if you want it to be the same size you should look at 285/75/16

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
if you want 37s, go with the 17x9. If you want the max size to be 315 75 16, go with 16s

I went with 16” because I like more sidewall. And 265 and 285 tires are readily available in 16”

With 17"s you could bolt on larger brakes if you wanted to do that later. Can't fit those with 16"s

but with 16"s you get more siedwall, which makes a difference in low traction/deflation situations off road.

That's a good point about brakes. I think I've heard some folks doing a Tundra break swap in the rear.

Swapping the drums for discs is not a simple bolt on... I'm talking about the front. Particularly aftermarket and 4runner calipers/pads/disc. Unbolt to old and bplt on the new larger ones
