Would you mind posting some pics on how the new bar and the flap over the tailgate looks?

I replaced the angled bar with a straight bar, with the help of @GHOST SHIP.

I tend to still tuck the flap into the tailgate still.

Who here know the difference between the bolt patterns for the two generation beds? Dimensions wise, how far off are the beds length/width and where they bolt to the frame? I may have an opportunity to get a 3rd gen flat bed replacement and put it on my 2nd gen.

I can't say for sure, but I think they're the same. I'd find someone with a 3rd gen and bring a tape. Soft topper I bought from a 3rd gen fit right on mine. Looking inside his, it looked the same, but I may be wrong.

The original post must have been a old softopper version you can tell by the logos on the side its not the same as all the ones I have seen for sale on the used market. For anyone wondering fitment between 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen I contacted softopper directly less than 6-months ago and got answers that they are identical. I also installed both on my 2nd truck and confirmed they are the same. The only difference is the replacement 3rd Gen rear panel ($79), rear panel curved bar ($12), and rear panel curved bar brackets ($7) plus shipping. Hope that helps someone out there, but if you see the old logo on the side then its probably not gonna work! (In photo below the black one is 2nd Gen fitment and the tan one is 3rd Gen fitment)

I’m buying a 2nd gen topper for my 3rd gen. Do you think that I’d need to buy anything for install? Softopper has not answered the phone or email in like a week.
