Looking to get a ballpark here, I found a topper for my truck, its already paint matched though he said its in "decent" shape with a few chips. Its a leer legend or 100xr from what I can tell, the owner doesnt know the model but he got it used 2 years ago. Since its inferno orange and he got it used 2 years ago so its between 3-7 years old (Im betting on it being from 2016, but inferno was only 2016-2018)

It looks pretty good, but he wants $1500 for it. I know $1500 is going to be a very very hard sell as inferno long beds are not exactly a common truck around here, and not many people will spend $1500 on a used shell they will have to paint to match their trucks.

I offered him $900, sound like a fair price?

$1200 is fair, if that’s paint matched and something you really want, I’d grab it for whatever he’s willing to take. Probably not going to come up very often paint matched

Yeah, I want it, and its paint matched already, but I dont want it bad enough to pay $1500. I already have a soft topper on my truck. I was hoping to use the high price, age, unique color, and long bed as bargaining tools for myself. Long beds are not common around here, inferno is a rarity, and the combination just doesnt work in his favor.

Im hoping he bargains with me, I think $900 would be a steal for me, so I would come up from it, but not to $1500

Take it for $1200 if you can and sell the softopper. I sold my last cap for $1150 and it was considerably older

I paid $900 for one just like new in 2007, I've seen used ones go for $200. I have a hard time wrapping my head around what they sell for today. But I'm thinking new would be around $3000. $1500 seems crazy high to me but when put into perspective is probably a bargain.

Yeah, I see prices all over the place on toppers. Looks like this one sold, and thats fine as I am in no hurry to buy one. I will get it next time it pops up on facebook market in 2 years.

Think you might be low by a large margin. That's got the side windows that open, dual T handles in the back, and the bigger thing is the rails up top and the bars. The factory ones paint matched with the reinforcements to run the bars (not including the bars) are well over $3000 from any manufacturer. $1500 isn't a terrible price to start with, but I wouldn't offer any lower than $1200 to avoid insulting him. Were I in his position I don't think I'd even respond to an offer sub $1K.

I'd buy it for $1200 that is certainly fair. It's the right color and you might not have another chance. Brand new is quite expensive as you know. I am sure you will like the hard shell.
I bought my Snugtop Rebel used for $1300 and it was so worth it. Pull the trigger :)

$1,500 was fair, $1,200 would have been a deal. $900 was an insult, especially since it was already color matched.

Price a new one, they are high now.

A couple of years ago I paid $1000 for mine used, paint matched. MGM DCSB. It's a Leer 100xr w/o a rack or carpet on the roof.

Sold my shell with prinsu rack for $1700. If it’s in great shape that’s not a bad price considering they are almost $3k new nowadays (depending on the model of course). I tried for months to get a color matched shell and eventually just bought new and I needed one. If you pass it up you may not see it again. Not sure if it was inferno but they had a sun air color for the trd pro 2015 as well.
