I live in Vermont Anything over 3 inches you got to cut the crossmember no matter what brand of lift you get, but I got rough country and I can’t get a hold of them I’ve called and emailed to get that information not a response

It shouldn’t be sold on the market if Toyota, the manufacture doesn’t approve the lift kit in any means or selling to a state that can’t use it

You don't gain anything except for breakover angle with anything over 3in. The IFS can only articulate so much.

Real ground clearence is limited by the diffs and crossmembers.

Toyota has no bearing on what can be sold. It's a free market.

This site is full of fun mods that Toyota doesn't care about, unless you have a warranty issue. The only time they get involved is if a mod uses the word "TOYOTA" or the "TRD" acronym from a trademark perspective.

This is solely an issue with VT's state's rights and laws. Growing up in PA, it was similar. Frames were off limits if we wanted an inspection sticker.

30 seconds of googling brings up this in their documentation..

That being said I feel like you haven't tried anything else and are giving up too easy. Have you tried another shop for inspection?

With your state ( VT ) noted, I found their definition for that Industry Standard link:

    upload_2023-1-24_10-17-35.jpg

I would either ask 4WP for some info with respect to those references or see if there is something about those noted for your particular kit.

90% of the shit people bolt to their tacomas would not be approved by Toyota.

Strongly disagree. I do not want a manufacturer to have to approve what I can do to their product after I purchase it.
Have you seen all the iPod hacks? Apple would never allow them.

Cut your frame, mod the crap out of it. 99% of the time nothing will ever come from it. It's that 1 %er that gets into a serious motor vehicle accident, where the vehicle is impounded for inspection. THERE is where the issue arises. And you're on the hook for whatever comes after that. And I'll cut out the part out comments for all of the sensitive members.

You can do what you want, but then its your responsibility and you still have to abide by the laws of where you live. Toyota doesn't prevent you from modifying the vehicle, but if YOU do then it isn't TOYOTA's responsibility.

Nobody is saying that you "cant", just that once you do its your issue to deal with and not Toyota's.

Due diligence is the care that a reasonable person exercises to avoid harm to other persons or their property. Looks like you didn't do yours. Rather than blaming everyone but the person staring back at you in the mirror, you might consider owning the decision to make a mod to your vehicle without considering the full scope of implications.

    DB’s pass here
What doesn’t pass is bumper height (I forget what it is..my truck passes so I don’t memorize this figure), mud flaps, and entire width of wheel being covered (of course guys put the stock wheels on for this part)
