Repair dent?

Someone hit my truck at some point. Any ideas of how to fix? I was going to kick it from the inside, but wanted to see if there were any better ideas first.

 

Lol that’s probably the worst thing you can do, a pdr (paintless dent repair) should be able to get it out easy peasy or you can even try hot water if you don’t really care too much

 

Yup, find a good PDR guy. It'll be cheaper than going to a pain & body shop.

 

I had a similar dent, on both sides actually. Pushed them out from the inside, it's really not a big deal. 1 of them didn't come out completely, so I got a small suction cup and that got it out a little more. I'm not entering any truck shows though, so it's good enough for me.

 

Like the others mentioned, first start with looking into PDR on the dent. And hopefully just a polish/buff on the scratches.

Also, one thing I'll point out in case you haven't already noticed, but looks to be an excessive gap between the mud flap and fender flare. I'd take a closer look into that and make sure it's not indicative of something more serious going on like the bedside panel being pushed inwards in that whole area. Hopefully it's maybe something simple like the mud flap fastener(s) being busted and needing replacement.

 

seems like the perfect time to chop that lower box and grab a high clearance rear bumper. but you can get a PDR guy to do that likely on the cheap. Or get a ton of glue sticks and attempt to pull it yourself.

Looks like the metal is creased. PDR can help but can’t do miracles.

 

You'd be surprised what the good PDR guys are capable of. I would actually describe it as magic. Check out @alloutdent on Instagram, he's got plenty of before/after pics of dents way worse than what the OP has here. There's even a grey Civic Type R in his posts with almost identical damage which he was able to remove entirely except for a scratch to the paint itself.

But not all these guys are created equal so if you're looking for perfection, you gotta find the right guy. There are a lot of hacks out there.

 

I agree........ but, the PDR guy should be able to tell you the likelihood of an acceptable repair after actually looking at the damage.

 

Id push out what I could by hand. Take the money saved and buy beer or gas for the truck and call it a day. Cus as soon as id repair it... id probably dent it again.

 

It's a truck, get over it and leave it there.

This, ask me how I know. Shop around for PDR, there are more than reasonable repair job costs out there by highly competent individuals.

 

Yeah, the mudflap got torn off when I was off roading, it was warped by the time I got it back on.

 

They quoted me 285 for that, that's crazy to me.

 

Don’t think hot water works on metal, that’s a plastic deal.

 

That doesn't seem too bad to me. Go to a good body shop and get a quote from them for the repair and I think you'll change your tune. A painted repair for that dent is gonna be much, much more, and you're gonna have down time where you can't use your truck. With PDR, the guy will come to your house/work and it'll be done in no time.

 

25yr PDR tech here. I like the part where you was gonna kick it from the insideAnyway,you'd be surprised how much you can push out by hand. My truck is full of dents,adds character.
