    6” RC standard lift
    Hello

I’m looking for some advice to help improve the ride of my tacoma.

It has a 6” RC lift and 33” general grabber x3s on 16” rims.

Save your breath if you’re gonna act like a jerk and insult me for buying a cheap lift. I bought it because it makes my truck look cool, get over it. Some of the treads here look like they belong on Twitter.

when researching the lift I was surprised to see how many people were reporting that they don’t affect the ride quality much. I couldn’t find a bad review. However it currently rides worse than most lifted trucks I’ve ridden in.

I heard the X3s ride well but we’re just loud. Though they are pretty extreme.

I keep the tires around 32psi

Does anyone with some expertise or with a similar setup have some advice about what to do? New, lighter duty tires are my current plan.

I’ve always suspected it was the tires, as does the guy who installed the lift. Though he builds diesels, not tacomas.

It does handle turns very well for its height, no problems there, alignment has held true. Bumps, however are teeth rattling.

    thanks in advance

also, screw custom offsets, tires came with 3 broken pressure sensors

What are you hoping for here, are you trying to salvage what you have and somehow make it ride better?

The only answer is going to be the answer you don't want to hear- dump the lift, fix the crossmember, and try something that's a little more conservative in height.

A bit of a condescending reply, but I want to know what’s stated in the post, will lighter less aggressive tires make much of a difference?

a LOT of people have purchased this exact lift and are satisfied, I’d like to hear more from people who have it.

it doesn’t need to be perfect, I know it’s not gonna ride like a car as they do stock.

is that the lift where you have to cut out the crossmember of the frame?

Yeah, I’m prepared to have it refurbished if it’s truly the lift making my truck ride so damn bad.

I was skeptical with rough country, though the reviews were great everywhere I looked.

    No condescension intended.

And yes, ditch the E load mud terrains. MTs only do well in the mud, everywhere else they are a nightmare to ride on. You'd be much happier with a C or even a SL load AT tire. I'd start there.

The majority of your issue is going to be those E rated tires, MT, AT, or any will ride well if they are rated for the right vehicle. E rated tires should be kept to the vehicles that need them, F250/350s, heavy hauling 1/2 ton pickups fully loaded. Our smaller Tacoma's don't need that stiff of a sidewall. I would start there first and see if it fixes your ride. The next thing to look at is going to be the lift, 6" is a ton on these vehicles, but some good high quality shocks would be the thing I would change from the lift. You would be surprised how much a nice set of Monotube shocks can improve the ride of a lifted truck.

Thanks, I don’t really know how much they actually affect the ride so I wanted more opinions.

I know people really hate these lifts here but it’s not like I’m hitting mountain trails all the time, mostly pavement and muddy hunting roads. Maybe RC is padding reviews but from everything I’ve read this lift doesn’t ride bad.

those block spacers are known to give a bad ride. also, unsure of the quality of the rough country struts. they are probably rebranded shocks.
