A/C Dash light out

My dash light to my Hi/Lo AC controls went out anybody know how to fix this is there a fuse I can change?

 

is it the fan switch bulb your talking about?
The bulb is part of the fan blower switch,
You can get an aftermarket switch for 15.00 or an OEM one for 50 or so.
Or find that bulb or buy the aftermarket one and cut the wire and bulb off it for your switch

 

So I have to take the whole dash off to install it?

 

No, just the center section of the console , it pops out with a few screws and a few more screws to remove the control section,
I just replaced that switch last week,
You have to wiggle the control section a bit to get it to come out depending if you have cables or vacuum line there depending on the year, mine had a metal tab holding it in place behind the heater control section too,
15 minutes job

as long as it’s the correct light that’s gone out on yours

 

You might be able to pull just the front off too like this guy,

The front colored plate once all the knobs and handles are removed can by removed and the bulb changed . Unless things changed for 2001

Being on there 20 years and never removed it may very well be stuck and need some gentle help.

No reason to buy a new switch unless you want to.

 

Yes, but it’s rare for one of these bulbs to burn out, I’ve never had one burn out before,
So it could be in the switch connector for this bulb too and could be just the bulb

 

Over the years I have replaced several of those bulbs.

I always keep those bulbs.

Then I never had a blower switch fail YET !!

Do try the simple first is my motto.

 

These dam Tacoma trucks, I’ve had that blower switch fail twice lol,
Go figure

I just got the same issue with my Taco! Went to O’Reilleys and they said about $15 for a pack of like 10. Wondering if I can just find a bulb to rewire on there. Seems like a waste of cash for a bulb that hasn’t needed to be replaced in 18 years!
